Half Moon Cay

I asked this on another thread, but only got one response so i wanted to re-ask for more opinions-

For Carnival, if you have the unlimited soda card, can this be used at Half Moon Cay?

Thanks!

There are usually two types of cards sold. One includes HMC, the other does not. Obviously, the HMC inclusive is more expensive.

Once on the ship, you'll find them for sale everywhere, be sure to ask if you want one that includes HMC.

Do they have any free drinks all day at HMC? If so- what does it include? Thanks.

so - back to the clamshell... Is it important to decide in advance - or are there plenty so you can figure out whether you want one or not when you get there?

Based on past experience, clam shells usually sell very quickly. To avoid disappointment, I would book in advance.

Those that wanted cabanas and were unable to secure one will opt for the clam shell. In addition, to those that had already planned on reserving one.

We're cruising to HMC in July & I've got some questions about this stop! I saw it had the Horseback Riding excursion and the Stingray excursion but I can't find a price for them. Does anybody know how much these cost? We're trying to budget!!

And we're hoping to board early & book a Cabana. Does that mean we can get on one of the first tenders and if so, how do we do that? Get a ticket or a special line?

Sorry for all the questions!! It's our first time going to the Bahamas!!!

TIA!

Are you sailing on Carnival or HAL? The prices are different from line to line. With HAL you can book a cabana ahead of time, you do not need to wait until you get on the ship.

IIRC The horseback riding was around $70.00pp and the Stingray "Encounter" around $40.00pp. If you are going on an itinerary where other ports have open water stingray excursions, I would chose those over the one on HMC. The stingrays on HMC are kept in a fairly small pen in the lagoon area. Haveing snorkeled in the open water and seen / fed / touched stingrays in their natural environment, I don't think getting in a pen with a few would match the experience.

We're sailing on the Carnival Fascination and they won't let me book a Cabana until I get on the ship!

Thanks for the prices. I've always wanted to swim with Stingrays but it doesn't sound like the one at HMC is what I had in mind. Maybe I'll check Nassau for one. We're doing the Dolphin Swim through Blue Lagoon there!!

  • 1 month later...

Nov 09 we paid $14USD for a clam shell that comes with 2 lounge chairs. Don't know if the price will go up or went up in 2010. Call HAL or book online as soon as you know you want it. They go fast. You may not get a chance once you board like us in 2008. None left by then so in 2009 we booked by phone with CC.

They were still $14.00 in February, 2010. It didn't take long before clam shells became waitlisted.

Here we go again, people advising others not to "blow money" on a cabana.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, if you haven't tried a cabana, you're in no position to be advising others. A visit to HMC is incomplete without a cabana.

You complained about getting tender ticket number eight, a cabana would have included priority tender passes.

Aren't you saying only one opinion yourself? A visit is incomplete without one? Your advice many times seemslike it is only for the rich (or at least it comes off that way). Many ppl can't afford one but can still have a complete trip without one.

I am. We've had cabanas. I can give that opinion.

I don't think you have to be rich to afford a cabana. How much did your cruise cost? How much did you spend in the casino? How much did you spend on drinks? It's all relative.

There are some families that can only afford the cruise and can have a great time without one. It is thier choice. I kmow ppl have to pick and choose what they want to do. We are spending $450 for day passes at Atlantis- but we could have a great time where ever we go. Cabanas probably are nice but it's up to the indivual to decide if it's worth the mony to them.

Agreed, but some people give opinions and they have never tried it. As I said, it's all relative. You're on vacation, choose what you want to spend your hard earned dollars on.

Typhoon- quit telling everyone the cabanas are great. It will be easier for us that really enjoy them, and know how great they are, to get them when we want to!! :D:D:D

Cruise HAL Bruce. Just log on and reserve online. :):) Sometimes, even that can be difficult if your not early enough.
