Raiders of the Lost Mayan Cave, reviews?

We are looking for any info on Raiders of the Lost Mayan Cave? We are coming to Belize in January with 4 older kids 2-13, 19, 21 and 2 adults and thought this sounds like a great time. We are all in good shape, no restrictions. We have done zip lining in Antigua and really enjoyed it, but are older sons weren't with us for that trip. This excursion sounds like it has a little bit of everything. We live in South Florida, so not to interested in beaches, we would rather do a adventure type. Any reviews or suggestions?

Does anyone know the actual name of the cave they visit?

We chose the Raiders of the Last Cave. It was great. We got on a bus and took about an hour bus ride. The roads in Belize are the worst. About 30 minutes are going down some of the bumpiest dirt roads. They need a waiver just for the bus ride! It was a total bone rattler. Nonetheless, the guide, Elvis Usher, was great. He is so patriotic and passionate about Belize and his job. To distract us from the terrible roads he educated us about Belize. We got to the Caves and were greeted by a team of guides who suited us up for our adventure. The caves were really cool. First, we went in December. You don’t need long pants and you don’t need a long sleeve shirt. Our shoes did get wet though and heard that in the wet season the water gets high where you would have to swim. The caves were really cool, and the guides were great. We went zip lining twice, and repelled down a wall, and also did some rope bridges. It was all a lot of fun great for all ages. Just have to be up for a little physical activity. Don't know the name of the cave. The company that does this is called bak-a-bush adventures. They even gave us a nice lunch. You can buy some Belize wine there which was a nice souvenir. We even bought the CD of pictures they took of us for $20. And we took our small video camera and we were fine. In all, it was a great shore excursion. When we got back to Belize City we had some time and did some shopping. There is a small area where we felt safe to shop. In all, Belize is really UNBELIZEABLE!

Does anyone know the actual name of the cave they visit?

 

 

I just went on this excursion this past week and I asked Elvis this question. He said that there is no specific name for the caves that we visited. However, he said the name of the area the caves are located in is called the Mayan Mountains.

 

Awesome excursion! Highly recommended. One of the highlights of the cruise.

The Mayan Caves tour was a highlight of our multi-generational cruise, and Elvis is the best tour guide ever, truly. Don't miss this!

We did this last November and it was great, we were a group if 8, all in our fifty's. The guides we very professional. We did get a little muddy, I wore jean Capri's and a short sleeve top. There are some areas that you be on your knees, or in a squatting position. It was one of the highlights of my trip.

Somebody mentioned that they saw a 7 year old girl on this excursion. We're thinking about doing it, and we have an 8 and 10 year old. Both pretty adventurous, but I'd like to hear what others than about that. Is 8 too young?
