Heard about this on the local news today.

This article appeared on the local news. A 14 year old cancer survivor was having her wish granted by the Make-A-Wish foundation. It was for a cruise to the Caribbean for her family. However, after the tsunami disaster she decided to take the cash value of her gift ($5000) and denote the money to the American Red Cross instead.

What an inspiration for all of us to do more! Thanks, Orcrone, for sharing this with us.

There are some great kids out there. Those who believe the youngsters have all lost their way are wrong. Taken as a generational group, they are absolutely wonderful, IMO.

I think the cruiseline should give her the cruise anyway :) and make the donation :) they can afford it!:)
That would be nice, but in the cruiseline's defense, which one? I don't think they had a cruise booked. She had not made any plans for their cruise.

However, any cruise line could come forward and make the offer. HAL, Carnival, Radisson and Celebrity all have cruises out of Norfolk.
