arpie05 Posted January 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2010 the spinach tarts! Still think about them. I had three the night they were served. Mine are almost as good - but I would love the true recipe.
arpie05 Posted January 21, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2010 OH yea - the chocolate cake at Endless Summer was awesome too. The icing was like a homemake caramel.
galensgrl Posted January 26, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 26, 2010 So far, anything from Le Bistro. We had two excellent meals there last time we cruised on the Spirit. I am really looking forward to their creme brulee right now. On the other end of the spectrum, the Blue Lagoon does a mighty fine burger and fries. Their fish and chips and their chicken fingers are good too, if you like that sort of thing. Must be why it gets so crowded in there at times...;)

galensgrl Posted February 1, 2010 #12 Share Posted February 1, 2010 Haven't tried the chocolate fondue yet, the creme brulee was soooo good we had that both times we ate at Le Bistro:p. Do they charge extra for the chocolate fondue? We will have to try that next time...
sweetride Posted February 2, 2010 #13 Share Posted February 2, 2010 the sushi is excellent. the fries at cagney's are great. i think my favorite thing though, is when the cookies are fresh baked YUM
weltek Posted February 4, 2010 #14 Share Posted February 4, 2010 In the MDR, appetizers are king for me. I love the cold duck salad, avocado soup, sweet potato bisque and bay scallops with coconut milk. For desserts I love the strawberry souffle (just sent cruise critic a recipe request!) and german chocolate cake. The entrees in the MDR don't excite me. In the specialties, the escargot at LeBistro and the truffle fries at Cagney's give me cravings. In the buffet, the rolls (particularly the pretzel rolls and the flat cheesy rolls) are king! Those and a little blue cheese and brie from the buffet make me happy!
BroncosFan2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Author #15 Share Posted February 5, 2010 I love the cheese spreads on the buffet at dinner time!
newjerseygeorge Posted February 6, 2010 #16 Share Posted February 6, 2010 I love the escargot. Hate to hear they took them off the normal MDR offerings. I would order at least three serving of them. Now I guess I am stuck going to Le Bistro and paying for my snails.
zonap Posted February 6, 2010 #17 Share Posted February 6, 2010 IMHO, Cagney's truffle fries are the best thing on board. My husband though respectfully disagrees and insists that Cagney's grilled asparagus appetizer (with prosciutto & mushrooms) is the best thing to eat on board. Ultimately, it doesn't matter since it's all at Cagney's so we both get to eat our favorites! :D
Betterluck Posted February 24, 2010 #18 Share Posted February 24, 2010 There was a tuna tartare appetizer in the MDR last year that had me ordering thirds and telling my waiter to forget my entree. The steak at Le Bistro was also fabulous, and one of my cabin mates had a really, really terrific duck dish in the MDR on lobster night.
endymion6942 Posted February 26, 2010 #19 Share Posted February 26, 2010 I do love the escargot in Le Bistro, but I think that they do a pretty fair job on the desert crepes.
bonniboo1 Posted July 21, 2010 #20 Share Posted July 21, 2010 The Carmalized Pineapple Tart in the Mexican Rest. I hope that they still have it when I go on the Gem in October. I would love the recipe!

arby70 Posted July 10, 2011 #23 Share Posted July 10, 2011 Other than breakfast, I hated the food in the buffet and MDR. The only food I found that was good during lunch and dinner was the chicken fingers and strawberry shortcake at the Blue Lagoon.

pampaul Posted July 13, 2011 #25 Share Posted July 13, 2011 I remember last year on the Jewel, I had creme brulee for the first time. I'm not much for custardy things but thought I would give something different a try. I THINK it was called a Honey Creme Brulee? But I do know that there was a layer of chocolate on the bottom and it was OH SO DELISH.
