2preschoolers Posted January 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2010 Many hotels I've called said that they will drop off at the port of Miami but are not able to wait after a cruise to pick back up. So how do you get back to a hotel afterwards? Do you have to pre-arrange a shuttle service somehow or can you just grab a taxi when you get off the ship? ALSO - there will be 7 of us (5 adults, 2 kids) - are there any van-type taxi's or would we need to take 2 taxi's?? THANKS!

Ang in Miami Posted January 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2010 Just take a taxi. They are plentiful and you'll see a long line of them once you leave the port terminal, just like at the airport. Also, for a party of your size, take one of the mini van taxis.

FLAHAM Posted January 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2010 Cabs are generally quicker and more convenient than hotel shuttles, even when the latter are offered between the hotel and the port. With five adults, two kids and luggage, you are going to need two cabs even with mini-vans.

2preschoolers Posted January 4, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted January 4, 2010 Thanks! So a mini-van taxi will not hold all of us? And are the min-van types plentiful or not so much? And last, approx how much is it one-way from the port to the Miami hotels? THANKS!

Taxis will run around $15 from port to downtown hotels, but depending on where in Miami you are staying the fares could go to $25 toward the airport. Langley Cruisers Posted January 4, 2010 #11 Share Posted January 4, 2010 Many hotels I've called said that they will drop off at the port of Miami... "Many" hotels? I take it you've inquired about hotels by the airport then, yes? Downtown hotels to not shuttle to the POM. As stated, you're looking at at least $25.00 + tip for each cab and yes, you'll need two.
