Items for cash

Besides tips at the port for the porters, what other items will we need cash for on excursions? I'm thinking this could give me an idea of how much money to take off the ship with us.

If you have to take a taxi or bus, I think those are cash only. Plus maybe a few dollars for a bottle of water or snack perhaps...

Haggling is easier with cash. Bring small bills.

and, of course, for any gits or souvenirs. Some places take credit cards, but not all. Also, your credit card company will likely charge you a 3% fee for use outside the US.

Small amounts of cash for the "straw markets"---some don't take credit cards! We will use the credit card for larger purchases, but there are bound to be little "gee-gaws" and tid-bits that you'll just want to pick up...cash is the easiest!

We always give a $2.00 tip for each time we get room service. (I bring $20 in singles, and if we get room service fewer than 10 times, then I get to keep the difference...and I go home with a profit)!:):):)
