Late Sailing, what's available

We are scheduled to leave out of Whittier aka Anchorage at 8:30 p.m. on the Princess Diamond S/B to Vancouver. Is there a dinner available or buffet? I have never sailed out so late so I'm not sure what to expect. I know you can board from 1:00 p.m. til 7:00 p.m. I have always sailed away in daylight so I know I will miss the view of sail away but unfortunately, no choice there. However, Whittier is so small, unlike the bigger cities where people on shore wave at you, not sure if it is a big deal.

You don't say when you are sailing, but since Princess only does Alaska during the 'summer' I suspect you will find, as we did this past August, that it is still light until around 10:00 PM.

As far as food, I'm sure regular dining and the buffet will be available.

Yes, Whittier is a small town and probably the only people who might wave to you will be dock workers. I remember it was still a beautiful start to our cruise because of the rocky hills and glaciers/snow along the way out.

We enjoyed Alaska so much it has now joined the list of my 3 favorite places in the world to visit - Alaska, Maui and the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota (a little prejudice/pride showing through there).

Regular dining options should be available. If you have traditional dining it should be at the set time. Anytime dining may be available in one dining room rather than both. HC will be open as well.

Traditional dining will be open, but probably with open seating that night since some may board after the early traditional time. And of course anytime will be open if that is what you have.

We have left at 11pm out of San Juan, dinning rooms were open (except during muster) as was the wine bar, bars, etc. Only thing I really noticed that was not open was the Casino. Not sure if they had a show since we were on deck for sailaway. Would assume it would be similar in Alaska.
