TwoMateys Posted January 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2010 We are in port from 9:00 to 6:00. We are doing a morning excursion that will drop us back at the port about 1:00 -1:30. How far is Accra Beach and is it possible with these timings? If not, which beach is close enough to enjoy? How much is the taxi? Tks.
Aplmac Posted January 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2010 We are in port from 9:00 to 6:00. We are doing a morning excursion that will drop us back at the port about 1:00 -1:30. How far is Accra Beach ===> About 3-4 miles? from the Port. and is it possible with these timings? ===> Yes, possible! If not, which beach is close enough to enjoy? ===> Carlisle Bay/Lobster Alive/Boatyard ? How much is the taxi? Tks. If he's passing that way, your driver might drop you off at Accra, rather than at the Port? Explain to him that you want to do Accra next! and he might drop you off at a convenient bus stop or taxi stand instead of all the way back to the Port. Our guys are tractable and accommodating in this respect, especially since it probably doesn't matter to him where he drops y'all off! .............................. Taxi fare I can't help you: I see all sorts of rates quoted, per taxi, per person, who knows? but it should be somewhere around $10 per head, per direction? maybe less if it's a whole load of y'all filling a van? -not a bad idea, huh.. don't quote me on the price.. . cantstayhome Posted January 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2010 The taxi stand at the pier says 7.50 per person to Accra...we were 8 in a van at 5.00 each person. Our driver told us when we arrived at the beach to only pay 5.00 for our return trip...to just tell the other driver that was what we paid to get there. They like to make a big deal about it, but he obliged and 10.00 round trip was all we paid. I would agree to just get dropped off at Accra...a beautiful beach to spend an afternoon on. Watch that sun though, spending lots of time in the water washes off all your sunscreen!
cruiseathon Posted January 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2010 The beaches just to the north of Bridgetown port in Fresh Water Bay are lovely. Brandons Beach, Brighton Beach and Paradise Beach are all within a mile or so of the cruise terminal, and take only five to ten minutes in a cab.
