any thing good having a cabin on the Baja Deck

I don't know much about those specific staterooms, but I do know the stateroom size is the same size no matter if it is a double, triple or quad. The only difference in them is that a triple has a third bunk that comes out of the ceiling, and a quad has two bunks that come down from the ceiling. The square footage is the same in each room no matter if it holds 2-3 or 4.

Our first cruise we were in Baja 242 on the Star - near the front - we loved it. Location was ideal for us because it was nowhere near any of the public rooms (dining rooms, pools etc.) so it was ultra quiet! The balconies are a little smaller than those on caribe deck, but I don't even mind this as it was comfortable for hubby and I and we like privacy. It's totally covered and you can look down on those on caribe and dolphin deck. I liked it!

We have stayed on the Baja deck - 614 and loved the location. First - there are only cabins above & below so that helps to keep the noise down. (We have stayed in a cabin right below the outside eating area and the chairs scraping above is annoying:mad:) The location is good because the Horizon Court, Lido & Pools are just a couple decks up. Easy access to the back of the ship.

We're in Baja 633 on the Diamond for our next cruise and chose it for the same reason, location. Close to the back of the ship, just cabins above and below, etc. We don't spend enough time in our cabin to make a suite worth the extra cost, but having the balcony is nice at times.

We always choose Baja deck because the balconies are covered, and there are passenger decks above and below us. We prefer a cabin mid-ship to aft, so the ones you chose are too far forward for us, but it's a great deck.

If only this was always so. Many of the cabins with a 3rd or 4th place to sleep have the extra bunks mounted on the wall and the stateroom steward opens them at night and closes them in the morning.

When there are only two people in the room, these bunks which stand out from the walls are in the way and effectively reduce the usable size of the cabin. Bumping heads into these closed bunks is common.

Good point Bill, there are still a few ships out there that the bunks do fold up into the wall, kinda sorta, but they do stick out a few inches. For those who are tall, or are not careful, this can be a bit of a head bump problem. But thankfully the new ships have them come out of the ceiling, from what I have seen. ;)

In general, the balcony and mini-suites have the hidden-in-the-ceiling beds. The OV and insides have the mounted-on-the-wall beds.
