CHIPMUNKS Posted January 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2010 Just been advised that yellow fever vax not necessary for Panama Canal zone or visiting Panama City but it is recommended for east of Panama. Anyone have any ideas on this, whether to have yellow fever jab to be on the safe side? As we will not be leaving the ship (unless we do the Panama City trip in the evening) it does not seem necessary but undecided at the moment. jo-b Posted January 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2010 We have just done a Panama canal cruise (not with P&O) our travel clinic advised that we would need Yellow Fever certificates for the call in Costa Rica as we were previously (on the cruise) in Colombia where there is a YF risk. No one else on teh cruise Roll Call had heard this, the cruise line said they had never had any issue with this and indeed this was the case. As it happens we had both had the jabs anyway. Panama city is on the west of the canal so may not be necessary but you can check on the CDC site.
jazzbabe Posted January 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2010 The P&O brochure has details of what vaccinations are required. Otherwise give them a ring.
