zelker Posted January 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2010 Something I did growing up was to buy trees in Israel (for which one got a certificate). I got to wondering if we could actually plant trees for real while there in October so looked at the JNF (Jewish National Fund) web site and there are two locations (one outside of Jerusalem and one between Haifa and Tibereus, at Goleni Junction) where you can actually get your hands in the dirt and plant trees. :D Has anyone done this? Also, it is likely that because of time constraints, we will have to do it at the Goleni Junction location. Our ship will be docked the night before at Haifa, meaning we can leave the ship anytime in the morning to be at the forest at 8:00 AM when it opens. Wondering if we will have time to do this and return back for our noon sailing (assume we'll need to be back on board by 11:00). Thanks! Queenk2 Posted February 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2010 When we visited Isreal on a land tour we did this somewhere near Yad Vashem. I wish I could remember, but we had a guide who took us there. I know it can be done, We did it. Karen
