macaroni Posted January 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2010 Can someone give me an idea of where the following places are in relation to the Ship? The Hilton hotel, Accra Beach and Bridgetown??? Is the Hilton the furthest? I am planning on walking the beach and the Boardwalk from Accra to the Hilton, but want to start at the furthest point. Thanks!

We get all these questions that just BEG for a Google Earth answer but few people seem to use Google Earth. It's not technical, it's dead easy to use. Get Google Earth. . Johnthed0g Posted January 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2010 Well...the ship docks in Bridgetown which by Caribbean standards is a city, I estimate at least about half an hour to there from the ship, keeping the sea on your right go over the bridge & follow the road round to Carlisle bay, at the far end is the Hilton out on a point, an hour walk maybe.... round that point, you eventually pick up the board walk another hour depends how you walk. May I respectfully suggest you look for a map online to see where you are going.

Did it...that was great! How long do you think it would take to walk from Accra Beach all the way to Bridgetown? If we did that, where would you suggest stopping along the way for a flying fish sandwich?
macaroni Posted January 16, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted January 16, 2010 Looking at that video, it seems to stop at a Fort...can you continue to walk along the beach or do you divert?

If we did that, where would you suggest stopping along the way for a flying fish sandwich? I'd try to score that Flying Fish cutter(local term!) somewhere in the Accra Rockley area before heading off on your trek although there are a few small bars/restaurants popping up along the boardwalk.. You might (might) get it at Coconut Court Hotel's beach bar and restaurant --that's after the boardwalk, when you've got to Hastings Beach-- but I'm unsure of their offerings. It'll take you about an hour to walk it from Accra Westward to Hilton and then I'd guess another hour making it around the big curve of Carlisle Bay, thru Bridgetown and on to the Port and your ship. Sure hope you're The Walking Type! .
macaroni Posted January 16, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted January 16, 2010 If we started the day instead at the Hilton and walked to Accra, can we get beach access from the Hotel?
Johnthed0g Posted January 16, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 16, 2010 From the Hilton...of course, turn left (East!) & just wander along, all beaches are public.
