Do we need to take beach towels from home

The ships used to provide beach towels for your use. They were always in our cabins. However, they stopped doing that. Now you have to go up to the pool deck and sign for towels. At least you don't have to lug the things with you. Happy sailing.

There are scads of pool towels available for use on the ship (which should be left in laundry containers at pool area). You will also receive larger beach towels to take on shore with you. Just let your steward know you have used them and they will launder them. Nice quality towels too. Save the packing space for more important things!!

We are going on the Celebrity Mercury March 29, 2010 and I was wondering if we can use towels from the ship for shore excursions or should we bring our own from home. We have only been on one cruise before and it was 4 years ago.

We cruised on Millennium the end of November and we had the large towels in our stateroom for personal use BUT you are responsible for them and if they are not there at the end of the cruise, you will be charged.

And also sailed her earlier this month... Beach towels are supplied in the cabin for on-shore use [as others noted, you will be charged for them if not returned]... No need to use those towels while on board; the Pool Butlers always keep an ample supply of fresh towels in bins throughout that area...

As others have said there is no need to bring any towels.

For use on the ship: Pool towels are available for use up on the pool deck. These are stacked at one or two places around the pool and by the indoor pool / Aquaspa area. You can use as many as you need and do not have to check them in and out as you do on some other lines. Please be courteous and throw them in the used towel hamper when you're done.

Beach towels: Your room steward will either provide beach towels in your room, or give them to you on request. These are larger and nicer than the pool towels. When you return to the ship just leave these on the floor of your room or bathroom and the attendant will take them to be laundered and leave you fresh ones. If they forget to leave fresh ones just ask - sometimes they get busy and forget. If you need extra just ask as well. They do check these in and out, or at least claim to, and there is a notice in the room that advises to charges if you do not return them. For this reason I don't advise taking them to the pool area as the pool butlers will throw them in the hamper up there if you leave them unattended - just use the pool towels instead.

Sorry - but I think you're getting Celebrity confused with a different cruise line. Unless things have changed since last November, Celebrity has always provided beach towels in your room, and pool towels by the pool, with no need to sign for them at either place. I've always appreciated this as it always seemed silly to police pool towels on other lines as if we were all thieves.
