referee Posted January 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2010 I'm sure this question has been asked before, but, I'm not sure of the answer. We are planning a November cruise to Mexico on The Mariner OTS, and I thought there were some balconies the got some soot from the smoke stacks. If this is the case, what cabins would this effect. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. I have read by some posters that the aft cabin balconies tend to get the soot. However, I have never had a problem with this when I have been located in the aft cabins. Puffinater Posted January 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2010 I have read posts that state that there is sometimes soot on the aft balcony cabins. Three of our Mariner cruises have been in an aft balcony and we have never experienced the soot issue. Others may have had a different experience. cb at sea Posted January 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2010 I don't think the newer ships have that much of a "soot" problem, like the older, smaller ships had.
sharktums Posted January 26, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 26, 2010 We just had the Royal Family Suite as well as two other aft balcony cabins on deck 8 on the Mariner and there was no soot issue at all. Also, we got new upgraded balcony furniture the second day of the cruise which was a nice bonus! Some of the outside stuff would get wet from staff working and cleaning, but they would always warn you.

Thanks in advance. We had an aft balcony on deck six. The size was wonderful. There is limited view and a large steel deck behind the balcony. All you can see is strait out the back of the ship. Since we we were the bottom balcony and the steel deck was behind us instead of ocean, smokers above would through their butts out and they would sometimes end up in our balcony.
