Just noticed that all the Pre 2009 Italy Ports Boards are Here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=234

You just have to use the Search facility at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=234 to find a wealth of info on Italy Ports that has not been transferred to the new board.

Thanks, I thought the information on the Italy board was limited, did'nt realise that all the pre 2009 Italy posts were not transferred to the new board

This seems like a good place to add another important point.

 

If you are using the search function for information (and thank goodness it seems to work pretty consistently these days, knock on wood...), remember to always look at how old the thread is.

 

A lot of things have changed from, say 2006 to 2010. Here are a couple of biggies:

 

1. The Roman forum is no longer free; you must now purchase a ticket (combined; good for the Colosseum, the Forum, and Palatine Hill.

 

2. The Vatican museum now allows you to preorder tickets directly through them online prior to your visit. This has dramatically decreased the HUGE lines for tickets for the museum, but it's still best to go in the early afternoon for a shorter line (if you don't prepurchase tickets).

 

 

And of course....prices are higher, and hours may change slightly. ;)
