We wll be sailing on NCL out of Seattle May 29. Are there any

wine shops in close proximity to the cruise terminal or the

Marriott Renaissance on Madison St.? We would like to take

wine on board if we can find something available. We are

spending the night before boarding in Seattle. We will be

dependent on taxis or foot.

Yes, Salty Dingo is right - there is a very nice wine shop just outside the entrance to Pike Place Market. If you walk along the street directly outside the market you will see it.

You picked a nice hotel too - it's our favorite when we visit the "city" - only an hour from home. To get to the Market, you can walk down the street outside your hotel (I believe it is 6th) north and turn left in about 6 blocks on Pike St. or Pine St. (Pine has some really nice shopping areas), then walk downhill another 6 blocks to the market area.

Seattle is an easy walking town (providing you have good weather, and we should in late May, but bring a light jacket). The North to South streets are all numbers: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.; the major West to East streets (the uphill/downhill ones) are 2-J's, 2-C's, 2-M's, 2-S's, 2-U's, and 2-P's. My Mother taught me to remember the first letters of the streets with the ditty: "Jesus Christ Made Seattle Under Protest". Therefore, Jefferson, James, Cherry, Columbia, Marion, Madison, Spring, Seneca, University, Union, Pike and Pine.

Probably a lot more information than you need :D - but enjoy Seattle! You must be doing an Alaska cruise? We did our first last August and love, love, loved it!

Yes, we going on NCL Star May 29 to celebrate my DH's

birthday. It will be our 2nd Alaskan cruise-the last was in

Sept. 2002 on CCL-so "Spring" might be a bit different.

No rivers of salmon, I suspect.

We will be in Seattle the night before & the night after the

cruise. It is just to hard to get from the East Coast to the

West without overnights. But any excuse to stay in Seattle

& enjoy the food. Wild Ginger! YUM:)!
