Sorry it took so long to get back. Yes you can order a bottle through room service. $40 for a bottle of Baccardi. Not bad considering a shot of rum is roughly 6$.

 

I think you meant to say it can be ordered ahead of time through the Bon Voyage dept. You can't buy it once you're on board - call and order before your cruise. ;)

I repeat: "Nobody smuggles for the convenience of a drink in the cabin!" That is just an excuse! I drink, I smuggle, I drink my stuff in my cabin, and out of my cabin..... and oh yeah, I have a four-year college education too

I guess according to your post, we are in the minority because we do smuggle for the convenience of having drinks in our room. We always book a balcony cabin and enjoy a sunset drink on our balcony. We will probably in the future just order from the Bon Voyage Dept. to save the hassle. And, of course, I'll carry on my wine.:D

Haven't been on Carnival in awhile. But I think I'm following the rules - let's see

 

1) My husband and I plan on carrying on one bottle of wine (each) in our carry on bag.

 

2) We plan to carry on water and soft drinks in a 12 x 12 x 12 soft sided cooler.

 

3) I won't be smuggling any liquor. I enjoy 2-3 frozen drinks by the pool each day. Some wine with dinner and maybe a cocktail or two in the casino.

 

But I'm going to get in trouble for being a chair hog if I have to leave the chair to go to my cabin for a few minutes to get something or have some "time" in privacy in my own bathroom?

 

I don't think I should be considered a chair hog because I spend the whole day in a chair. I go on the ship to sit in that sunshine. Ports are okay, but I prefer sea days.

 

So after an early breakfast you will see me head straight for my favorite chair with all my stuff for the morning. And maybe this year a timer in case I decide to take a short stroll to stretch my legs and get a cocktail.

If it has time on it - LEAVE MY CHAIR ALONE.

 

I do pick up all my things if I'm leaving for lunch or in the highly unlikely case of participating in a daytime event.

Not to bust your bubble, but on the fourth day of our five-day cruise my DH called room service. Fifteen minutes later ROOM SERVICE delivered a bottle of rum for $40 along with two glasses and a bucket filled with ice. I signed the slip. It was room service.

Same here- I rarely bring a drink out of the room- even relaxing on the lido I will purchase beers. I just like to be able to have a drink while getting ready, or if I feel like staying in with room service.

I have a cruise leaving port of miami march 8th, and i hope i have as much luck as you did getting the alcohol on board! i will report back and let everyone know if i was successful or not!

Just report all her posts. It's against the rules to entice arguments. It's against the rules to troll (which she admitted to doing on this very thread). It's against the rules to spam (posting on over 50 liquor threads a day). It's against the rules to attack other members. The list goes on and on. She's been gone for a couple days now, so hopefully she got slapped with a temp. ban. It's kind of sad that EVERYBODY on the forums here know who she is.

My opinion about smuggling aside, it doesn't make one bit of difference where you consume it.

We have indeed stepped up enforcement of our existing prohibited items policy and like many other cruise lines we are doing this for safety reasons We do therefore suggest that you keep your bags open so that if anything is discovered it can be reviewed more easily without having to delay delivery of your bags to your stateroom. As well as alcohol we are, of course, looking for objects that could cause damage to the ship. Since we started the stepped up enforcement a few weeks ago we have, for example found 42 irons. These could easily start a fire and that is one of the reasons we are doing this. So yes, this is an effort for to keep prohibited items from coming on board.

 

Who on earth tries to smuggle on 42 irons? No wonder they got caught! ;)
