stephluva Posted February 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2010 After much discussion, we decided to just go ahead and book a balcony cabin (category 8B) for our Carnival Miracle cruise in July. Last year we were on the Caribbean Princess and had a balcony (thanks to an upgrade), but we got lucky and had a large extended balcony (deck 10). With this being said, we wanted to know the size difference between the regular balconies on the Miracle and the extended balconies (category 8J, 8K). Hopefully some of you balcony experts can help us!!!! :D
gargoyle999 Posted February 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2010 Reg is 4' x 10' and extended is 6' x 10'. So 40sq feet vs 60 sq feet. :)
CrusinCyndi Posted February 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2010 You can stretch your legs out on the extended balcony

Islandbuoy Posted February 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2010 We were just on the Spirit in an 8k on the 8th deck. The extended balconies all have extended balconies above them and are covered, except for 8th floor which has the lido deck extending out about 6 ft beyond it. Hence no one looking down on you. CrusinCyndi Posted February 12, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2010 If your standing at the railing, others will be able to see you when they are looking down. If you stay back a little bit, then you would be fine.
zqvol Posted February 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2010 Are the extended balconies less private....can people see u from above???thanks K Almost every balcony on the ship can be viewed from some other balcony. The extended ones no more than the others, because the balconies do not stick out further, the cabins are offset inside.
stephluva Posted February 12, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted February 12, 2010 Thanks so much everyone! I was a little disappointed to hear that the extended balconies aren't too much bigger than the regular ones. We just got spoiled from our last cruise to have a balcony that was 9' by 9' :) One more quick question....has anyone ever gotten a cabin directly under the lido deck where the pool is? Can you hear everything from your cabin, or is it somewhat "soundproofed"?? TIA :D
