Carnival will not honor a price on their OWN web site!

Wow, what a night. I've been on the phone with Carnival for alomst 2 hours. What a dissapointment

We are currently booked on the Carnival Freedom leaving next Saturday 2/27. Right now, we are in an inside cabin but I was looking to move to a balcony. Needless to say I've been watching the prices very carefully.

For the last week or so, it's been $1,099.00 for a balcony for a past guest. I checked agian tonight, and it came up with no rooms available. I kind of doubted that so I put in the same info in the new search option on the top left. You know the one, with the destination, dates, and the option to pick senior over 55 or past guest. I hit search, and there are rates on that page - $949 for a balcony. So, I decide to take it and call Carnival. And that is when the fun started. The first girl I talk to says that the rate is still $1099.00. I explained to her exactly how I got to the page, and she is still not sure. So, she gets me over to an internet specialist. I end up emailing them THEIR web page with THEIR price. After waiting about 20 minutes on the phone, she comes back and says it's some kind of glitch.

OK - so how is this my problem? It's a rate on thier own site, not Travelocity or something. Shouldn't they honor it? Well, after talking to a supervisor for almost 45 minutes - no. He can't explain why I see that rate, but it doesn't match what they see in their system. No budging at all. Unbelievable. We leave in 9 days, and I'm going to try not to let this ruin this vacation.

Did you offer to email them a screen shot of the rate?

I see a price of $1099 for the past guest rate on their site too, with a free upgrade to a 8F for that price.

$999 for a senior rate.

I cant duplicate your price on a past guest rate, so Im not sure what to say.

Are you sure the price you see is for the same date, not a "from this price" and its on another date ... I dont know ... but I cant see the price you can see.

I always take a screen shot, so the rate code showing over on the right can also be seen.

Yep. 100% sure it was the exact sailing we are on. And yes, the screen shot had the price. They didn't argue with me that I was wrong in what I was seeing. Just that it didn't macth what they have in their system.

I see a $949 resident rate! Did they check those? what state do you live in?

It's for category BL btw...

We live in Michigan. At first, that internet lady thought it was something specific to that. So, I closed my browser, cleared my history and started from scratch leaving the State, and Past Guest blank. Same price came up. Am I wrong here? It's $300 total for 2 people? I'm not looking to cheat them. But if it's on their own site, and I clearly proved it to them - shouldn't they honor that?

As a side note, I never lost my temper or raised my voice with them. I worked in Customer Service for a fortune 50 company for 10 years. I know that doesnt get you anywhere.

Did you find a pack and go rate, or a rate for new bookings only? Either of which completely explains why it is not available to you. You are trying to upgrade and pay the difference. The problem seems to be that the rate you want is not available in your circumstances. My guess is that if you dig deeper you will find the limitation on the $949 rate.

Firefly- use MN for the state then you'll see it! TX doesn't get one on this sailing. Sorry! :p

How do you know the OP lives in MN??

I was thinking that the OP was seeing a different rate code, or something was the problem too ...

OP which state do you live in? Opps I see you live in Michigan, let me check that

That's just it! The supervisor's supervisor's supervisor could not figure out why I'm seeing that rate. I can't dig any deeper than that. Plus I took out any/all special rate options when I searched. I just did it agian 5 minutes ago and it's the same number....... Again. After I sent them the screen shot, they didn't argue in what I was seeing. Just that it didn't match their system. Shouldn't Carnival's own web site match what the PVP's see?

Resident rate goes away when I use MI. Comes back when I use MN. Could you have picked the wrong state?

Nope. Saw the same rate with MI and leaving it blank. One of their tech guys thought it was my computer. So, I did the same search with my work lap top. Same results.

The rest of us should be able to duplicate the price you are seeing if its right... thats what has us puzzled.

No one else but you so far can see this price. Thats why we are asking how you got there.

Tell me if this works for you:

I just duplicated what you are seeing! First search with no special rates and it shows $1,099. I enter Michigan for the state and results show Balcony $949. But when I click on details the Fun Saver rate becomes $1,099.

Thank You!!!! Guess I'm not going crazy after all! :)

yes, I see the price, and then when I click for details, so I can see what the criteria is for the price ... the price changes to $1099.

Unfortunately, I cant see the rate code you used to get there.

btw I can see you have Michigan box checked when the price shows on your link... too bad the code itself doesnt show up...showing the actual code to get to that price.

I wonder what determines what price they are compelled to use. Could be considered a bait a switch I would think. It's not like it is showing the price is $94.90 and is an obviously wrong price. A reasonable person would think that is a legitimate price, especially since it is valid for MN.
