Different classes of ships?

It would help to know what cruise line you are looking at to give you specifics. But in general, a "class" of a ship refers to a particular model, on Carnival, the class is labeled by the first ship in that class' name. It seems that if they find a design that they like, they will make multiple ships with that exact same design, thus developing a "class."

Class of ship is like a car model....there are Camry's, Celicas, etc.....

On RCI, Voyager class encompasses Voyager, Explorer, Mariner, Navigator and Adventure (of the seas).

Radiance class has Radiance, Brilliance, Serenade and Jewel..... in each class, all of the ships have the same configurations...with minor decor differences.

Always get the cruise brochure (with the deck plans) for your cruise before you book!

The big difference is in terms of on board amenities that each class provides. For example, RCCL's standard Vision class is a fairly basic ship - e.g., pool, main dining room, gym while the Freedom class boasts such features as a flow rider surf machine, ice skating, multiple specialty restaurants, large sport courts.

Descriptions of all ships and ship classes are typically present on the particular line's web sites.
