Is Room Service Free

I keep seeing suggestions about ordering coffee or room service if you are in an inside room to help wake up. Also, many recommendations on the chili and chips. Is room service free? Could I get just an orange juice sent to me in the morning (is juice free)?

Room service in itself is free. Except between the hours of midnight and 5am where there is a charge of $3.95. A gratuity is expected upon delivery. Normally between $2.00 and $5.00 depending on how much is ordered.

Nothing is free -- room service is "included" except between midnight and 5 am when there is the previously mentioned charge.

Nothing personal, but thank you for the millionth reminder on this board that CCers have paid for almost everything on the ship already.

The OP just wants to know if there is a extra charge for room service which you have nicely done.

If you are staying in a Grand Suite or above they waive the midnight to 5:00 a.m. surcharge.

Cool new fact to pack with me for my upcoming cruise. That and in Full Suites we can get any item off the menu so breakfast will be nice...ideally I can go work out some come back have a nice breakfast meet me there while I cool off and relax a bit. :D

Tipping also depends on the timeliness of the delivery.

$2 is the norm for breakfast delivery in my opinion since $1 seems a little stingy to me. I would rather give that extra buck to the delivery person instead of throwing it into the casino.....he/she could use it much more than I can.

Include in your thank yous, please, the millionth posting saying how generous people are with their tips because the crew earns lint instead of paychecks. :)

Wow, another reason to love this suite we will be in.

We always tip better than norm, at restaurants and Valet parking.

We will also tip great on the ship. Especially the bartender ! :D

But IF we do order after midnight, they will get a great tip.

We ordered a lot on the last night and tipped $10, you can be stingy but as these people live off tips I like to be a little generous :)

"These people" are not slaves living in the hull of the ship. "These people" chose their profession and we should not be feel guilted into paying their salaries. tip high, tip low, tip a cow, who cares..........just have fun

To the amount of tips...most of the tipped crew regardless of how much any given person tips, ends up making far more working these jobs than they would have earned staying home working in their home countries, where they may or may not find work anyhow.

Tip what YOU feel is right based on your experience, the service, and the task asked of the crew. If I let DW and DD place a RS order I need to tip big, because they crew thinks they are feeding a party in our cabin....sir is that for real 50 items for 3??? DD and DW on a couple of orders placed enouh food order as a snack that they didn't want dinner a couple hours later...

Actually, I think one of our favorite amenities is the availability to order dinner off of the MDR menu. It means that when our daughter is really exhausted,d Grammy or one of us can stay in the cabin with her and still have the night's main dining selections. That is quite nice. And DD has loved the steak every night on the kids menu since her first cruise.:)

The chili & chorizo dip is really good. If you order it, ask for extra chips. They never give enough otherwise. You get halfway through the bowl and no chips left. Also, the "corn" chips are really tortilla chips (like Tostitos) and not what I call corn chips (like Fritos).

Room service is included in your cruise and you can tip if you want to. We ordered coffee and orange juice every morning and sometimes breakfast.

The chilli and chips are good and the cheese plate was very nice. We didnt want to dress for dinner one evening, so ordered a selection of food and sat on the balcony to eat, it was bliss. There isnt much room to put the food out, so we left all the trays on the bed and kept popping in to select what we wanted.

Is the evening MDR menu available at room service on the Monarch? For all cabin classes?

No, the MDR menu for room service at dinner is for those in Grand Suites or above only.

As for on the Monarch, I don't know. I've seen reviews where people said that they did not get the normal suite perks sailing on Monarch. Hopefully someone who has sailed in a suite on Monarch can answer that for you.
