Don't play the last night of a cruise!

The reports on this thread are just anecdotal evidence based on a few cruises - - proves nothing. When someone can tell us what the record is for 100 or 1000 "last nights" the evidence will be believable. But a sanple size of three or four cruises? Just random variations of short run results. We'va all had 'em.

LOVE IT!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!

My take is, if you like to gamble, go for it and have fun - I don't think it matters which day or which time - spend what you can personally afford to lose and if you lose it - so what?? And if you get lucky and win - well then it's one more fun story to tell your friends back home!!! :):):)

I'm sure the penny and nickle machines are "tighter" on the last night :) but are you saying they use magnets to stop the roulette wheel on a number that no one is betting on or they use loaded dice or deal from the bottom of the deck for blackjack???

While I have "heard" that if the casino does not make its "nut" by the last day, the MACHINES will be tighter but I doubt they wouldn't make their nut. Remember - all the machines are programmed to pay out a certain ratio and they wouldn't pay out unless that ratio was in the casino favor.

As far as the table games, the cards come and you play them as you will. Same with dice, etc. Some times you are smarter... some times you are luckier.

However, slots can be changed as to payout. I have noticed that there seem to be slot winners early, so they can be excited and tell everyone how lucky they were in the casino. And, I think that would be good business... to stir up excitement and interest in the casino.

I'm not saying they change the payout percentages late in the cruise, but that would be good business too!

My partner gambles because he gets a thrill out of it and it adds enjoyment to his cruise, and that is his right. No one else pays his bill or cuts his meat. He often does well, and I am there to pull him away when he doesn't!

I'll watch a little closer on the final night from now on... but it is still his decision.

I'm afraid thats an old wives tale, slot machines are set up as to what the casino wants the payout to be with a computer chip. To change the payout on a machine is very expensive as they would require a new computer chip. The payouts even in Vegas are not changed that often, however the number of times a machine pays is greater in Vegas than on a cruise because of the competition. In Vegas if your casino had lousy payouts consumers would head for a casino that the machines paid out more, at sea no choice but to play in the only casino within walking distance:D

WELL SAID! And it is my money after all! I love to gamble and it is my perogative to do so - just as it is others to choose NOT to! I would rather play EVERY night onboard the ship than buy 20 new outfits anyday! But of course I do NOT gamble more than I can afford to loose...

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Fellow Gamblers: I would just like to put my two cents in even if it ain't worth a plugged nickle. There is no statisitical evidence that shows that on the last night of a cruise is a losing night. Therefore, gamble away if you wish, because you may very well win a lot of money. Like they say, you can't win unless you are in.

Actually, Casino Player magazine lists this as slot machine myth #1. With the current technology, there is no little guy behind the curtain changing odds on slot machines. I have been on these boards since their inception and people claim you win on the first day, last day, before dinner, after dinner, at sea days, port days in the evening, any combination. Bottom line is if you care to do some research you would find that the odds are set at the factory and only changed if something breaks. They don't have to change the odds, they always win anyway....Key is to find the right machine at the right time...

Ken is absolutely correct....

With the current technology in slot machines, the payouts cannot be changed without changing a very expensive chip in the computer. Your belief that they are changed is slot machine myth #1....

Another thing you can learn from research is how often machines are programed for payouts. For instance in Vegas penny and nickel machines payout is anywhere from 88-90%, I read somewhere that the payouts on a cruise is at 82% In vegas you have competition, at sea you can't walk to another casino.:)

Absolutely, there is a magazine that gives the payouts monthly for most of the casinos in the US. As far as I know there is nothing that publishes the payouts on cruise ships. As you stated though, there is no competition...

Did I miss the point, but I don't think the OP is talking about odds or random gen chips, or the memory of the dice. We all understand that.

They were talking about the 'last night chance to play' attitude. For non-regulars on land, everyone's last night in the casino for a given trip is different, so it is hard to notice. But I assume the OP is getting at the 'attitude' of 'letting it ride' or 'trying to climb back out' on some last ditch efforts.

For many here, you have disciplined money mgmt - but I agree, the last night of a cruise (or the last hour of a gaming ship) is full of crazy bettors. For folks with poor money mgmt I suppose it is true for all days, but they should especially put their wallet away on the last night.

I compare it to the local go-cart track. Where I suspect most crashes or spinouts occur when people are racing their last lap left on their paid ticket.

I was replying to the person who replied that the payouts could be changed, I think that is where we got sidetracked:)

I think with the "crazy bettors" theory, by the last night they wouldn't have any money left to begin with.

Winning big on the last night upsets me ;) because I could have been playing with the house's money all week.

So, after leaving the casino on Saturday night, I go back to the stock market on Monday. Same thing.

Thats how it got sidetracked and not everyone knows about Ran Gen chips or how the casinos operate. There are many out there who believe these myths...

Sorry, crusincurt, but there really isn't such a thing as the "house's money."

It's your money.

As soon as you loose a bet, it's not your money anymore, and when you win, it's not the house's money anymore - it's yours.

Now, getting back to the thread, I would hate to not gamble on the last night of a cruise. It's just as much fun as the first night and you might miss out on a big win.

On the last cruise I took on Soverign OTS, by the second night, all the crapshooters knew each other, as there weren't that many of us and it was the same "usual suspects" every night. Things weren't going well during the cruise, and almost all of us were taking consistent losses....until the last night.

On the last night, one player brought his wife to the table and let her shoot the dice. You know the drill; "I've never done this before, etc." She throws a die off the table on the first roll and wants to quit, but he persuades her to keep at it. Well, this woman shot an absolute monster! Pass after pass and every number there was again and again. Field numbers for the field bettors. Hardways for the hardway bettors. In fact, I saw something during that shoot that I'd never seen before - the back wall of the crap table behind the boxman's bank. Before they could get a fill over, we had just about run them out of chips! This lady shot the lights out and got every shooter even for the cruise on the last night! When she sevened out, I think we all colored up, grabbed our chips and ran as fast as our legs would carry us. Every one of us had won back our losses for the trip and more!

It dosen't happen very often, but last minute comebacks are possible.

I like to visit the casino when cruising over here in the UK but small stakes only as I am not a millionare. I did once put down £20 on the roulette table and walked away with £120 which at least payed for the champagne!.,that was on the second night. Last cruise I had £100 left on the last night and decided to blow it on casino stud. £30 of chips was still £30 5 hours later at 2am when I quit. Players were making larger bets than other nights and some were being stupid. The progressive jackpot or whatever they call it was enticing and I reckon that, given the chance of being dealt a royal flush, it will be enormous by the end of the season in October. I wonder what happens to the jackpot then
