disneybabe Posted February 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Long time lurker, first time poster. Lots of great info on these boards! Cruising with 4 couples this fall, how do we keep in touch on such a big ship?
luddite Posted February 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Several methods. Post-It notes are a big help. The in-room phone has a voice-message feature. A quick call indicating plans is helpful. Realize that the ship ain't all THAT big. Figuring out where someone is likely to be, i.e. bar, pool, library, room, gym, running deck, becomes easier if you know them well. My wife knows where NOT to look, and that shortens her search options. CALMOM Posted February 28, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Good old Walkie-Talkies, we use them all the time when the kids were young. Now that their all grown up, we don't want then to find us on the ship :D
SuitCaseBears Posted February 28, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Some people put a small white board on their cabin door for messages. Also there's a sort of "mail box" right next to your door, although it's not a box, more like an office paper holder. In any event you can also leave notes there. But the inter cabin voicemail is the best bet.
paul929207 Posted February 28, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2010 You can also set a time and place to meet up.

cb at sea Posted February 28, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2010 It's not as hard as you think it will be....everyone will pretty much know where to look for you, after the 1st day!
luvs2travl Posted February 28, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2010 It's easy. In-room voice mail, post-it notes on cabin doors, notes in the "mail-boxes" next to your cabin doors, setting up a time & place to meet on board, etc. There are phones for use all over the ship where you can retrieve your in-cabin messages. But, I agree with "cb at sea" - after the first day, everyone will pretty much know where to find you! ;) If you MUST use walkie-talkies, please keep them on 'vibrate' and keep the volume down. One of the biggest perks of cruising, IMO, is NOT having to listen to everyone's constant chatter on their cell phones. Walkie-talkies can be just as annoying. Please be considerate of your fellow passengers. :) On one of our Princess cruises, we noticed the maitre'd asking one couple to please turn them off when in the MDR. Ya' think???
Sheffie Posted March 2, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 2, 2010 There were 21 of us on our last cruise. When we first got on board, we figured out where our on-deck spot would be. We liked the deck above the pool, clear to the back. If we had an at-sea day, that is where we would gather. Otherwise, it was the post-it method. Have a great cruise! Glad you decided to not be a lurker any more! ;)
