STXCruisers Posted March 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2010 If a TA has your booking, can you transfer to another? Is there a penalty?
pms4104 Posted March 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2010 Some T/A's assess a cancel fee, others do not ... you need to read the policies of your specific agent/agency. As for transferring to a different T/A ... not always so easy. The T/A holding the booking must agree to release it to another agent/agency. It would make sense, under those circumstances, for a fee to be involved, as the first agency did some (or a lot of) work and will get no commi$$ion for their labors. I have booked myself online in the past, made whatever arrangements I wanted with Celebrity and then transferred the booking. This time, I allowed Celebrity to book it onboard directly to the agent. You are right - they should be entitled to something for processing the booking and sending the confirmation should a transfer occur.
