Update from the Horizon

Hi, I just called my parents on the Horizon because I couldn't stand it anymore. I had to know what they thought and if they were having a great time. The answer is yes they are having a wonderful time. They said the food and service is wonderful. Last night an officer sat with them at dinner and bought them wine. My mom is from Spain and her English is broken so she had no clue who he was or what he did, but she said he was funny, sweet and cute. My dad hit a five hundred dollar jackpot on the quarter machine and then won a little more today. They also went to Carlos and Charlies, she said they had so much fun watching all the young people dance on the tables. She said she had three beers because if you did they gave you a free t-shirt (that's my mom for you) Seas were a little rough today so they called it an early night.

Anyway, I thought I'd share what I knew. If you have any questions just ask..

If an officer came and talked to them during dinner, are you sure they weren't arrested and being interrogated in the brig by good cop, bad cop.

Reading between the lines on your post, I think you had a lot to do with your parents' cruise and want to make sure they have a good time. If they are on the Horizon, they will have a great time. We took our 1st and 2nd cruise on the Horizon and it is a great ship.
Don't worry about your folks right now. If your dad comes back and says he needs a "Bahama Mama" or your mom starts singing "Red, red wine," you might have a problem. Otherwise, chill out. Us old people will do whatever we want. I will send medicare card info if required!!!

Toni, I'm glad your parents are having a great time on the Horizon. I loved the Horizon, it was actually the best cruise I have been on so far! Tell them to go to the Martini Bar, we had so much fun there!

We were on the Horizon (again) in Jan '04. It is one of our favorites. Obviously, everyone has their own opinions, but the reason I like it so much, is the reason a lot other folks don't is the size. I WAY prefer the smaller ships over the 100K mega-ships. We've been on a couple of the Millenium size ships, but prefer the Horizon and Zenith much more.

Hey Cloud I have a question for you. Do you think that the Horizon will have a much older crowd this September when it sails to Bermuda? My parents are thrilled because everyone is around their age group, late 60's and early 70's. I knew this sailing would be older because of the length of the cruise but I was wondering what your opinion might be on different sailings. I sailed the Zenith years ago when she was new and I would say the average age was 40 and up. I was in my early 20's'then. I'd like to take my sister in September but I want her to have a great time and I think she'll have a better time if there is a handful of 40's and up on the ship. Any thoughts you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Marco, I'm with you, I love the smaller ships because I feel like I can get to know everyone on board.

Hi Lois, the game was great, thanks for asking. I have to brag just a little. My son went four for four and had two put outs (He's the catcher) but the Pitcher was the real hero he had 17 strikeouts. hey 10's, My son is 17, we live in Virginia Beach, and he plays for Cape Henry High School. It was freezing last night, the game before us took forever and we didn't start until nine and got home around midnight. Today we have a 4:00 game, and the sun is shining.. For all you baseball fans out there, Red Sox play the Yankees tonight. That should be a good game.

Lois, we actually started March 5th, we went to Cocoa Beach for our first tournament. At least it was reasonably warm there.

Toni, Actually there were a lot of people in their 40's maybe early 50's. The ship is small, which was very nice, and everyone we met were wonderful and friendly. I think you and your sister would have a wonderful time! September is a good month to go. Of course when we went Bermuda had a hurricane so we had to go north, but it was absolutely a great trip, we had more sea time and the weather was wonderful. Book your cruise and enjoy!
