momofzeke Posted March 10, 2010 #26 Share Posted March 10, 2010 Express luggage from port of Maimi does it include both Mia and FLL?Paul Yes. We flew out of FLL for our Valor cruise that sailed from Port of Miami. The flight had to be later if flying out of FLL. You had to have a flight after 2:00 PM if flying out of FLL....after 11:30 AM if flying out of MIA. AA was one of the airlines on both our Valor cruise out of Miami and also our Spirit cruise out of San Diego, so I would be that it is a participating airline in most, if not all, cruise ports. MargaritaPlease Posted March 10, 2010 #28 Share Posted March 10, 2010 If you do this are you then considered self disembarkation? No. And if you're looking for the fastest way to get off the ship, this isn't it. We recently used Luggage Express getting of Valor in Miami. We were told to meet in the Theater pretty early (I think it was 8:00AM?). We waited there for bags to clear as the self-disembarkation groups were each called and exited. They then started their way up through the regular groups before we were told that it our luggage was cleared and we could then depart. Many in the group felt that they had been deceived as the on-ship flyer for the program list "express" (so some such word) disembarkation as one of the features of the program. As we had plenty of time and just didn't want to schlep luggage, this didn't bother us a bit and we thought the program worked GREAT!

My experience (2/27) on Dream and w/ Alaska Airlines was diametrically opposed to what happened to you. Boarding pass and luggage tags arrived in room the night before. Luggage outside. No info about need to gather as a group. Next AM - luggage gone - and before 8 AM, it was announced that luggage express folks could get off the ship at their leisure and pleasure. It just could not have been easier or more satisfying.:D:D:D Sorry that your experience was so disappointingly different. :(
caesar68 Posted March 13, 2010 Author #32 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Yes, Southwest does participate. We used luggage express at the end of our Dream trip on Feb. 13th. What port were you leaving from? I called Southwest and they said that they did not offer the service.
GaNavy Posted March 13, 2010 #33 Share Posted March 13, 2010 I am a new self-appointed cheerleader for Luggage Express!!!!!!! It is so worth it!!!! Someone asked if you are then among the self-embarking - yes! You can stay or go whenever you wish. No lines anywhere. Especially at the airport, I was SO happy to skip to the front of the class!!! Whew!!! A loud AMEN from me. ken076's post doesn't seem to include it, but I used this on Freedom in Ft. Laud. When you compare the $ to the money you'll already have spent on drinks/spa/casino/shopping/doodads :D:eek::D it'll seem like the screamin' bargain of a lifetime. I was surprised to read the other posters disappointing experience, especially since it was also on the Valor. We did not have to meet at 8 am in any lounge. We were given debarkation #4, I believe. When they called #4...we got off the ship. Simple and easy. That was a couple of years ago, so maybe they have changed the way they do it, but we sure liked it back then. CruisingAgain Posted March 13, 2010 #35 Share Posted March 13, 2010 I'm hoping when the Alaska cruises start someone will let us know if we can do this with Alaska Airlines in Seattle. I'm sure I'll have to wait a couple months and ask again. But I'm really excited about this feature - if we can do it.

SWA said no on the phone to other port but others here have said that they have used it with SW. I have an email in to customer service also. vinman13 Posted March 14, 2010 #38 Share Posted March 14, 2010 2 More questions (Dream Port Canaveral) 1) Jet Blue do they offer it? 2) When and where do you pay the airline baggage fee. Some of us are on US Air and they charge per bag $
Fungusgnat Posted March 14, 2010 #39 Share Posted March 14, 2010 2) When and where do you pay the airline baggage fee. Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted March 14, 2010 #40 Share Posted March 14, 2010 Do you know what airlines participate? We are flying Delta out of Tampa (Legend) If you do this are you then considered self disembarktation? Linda No it is not self embarkation- although I think it is called self assist when you carry bags off yourself? You still get a tag number and disembark when that is called. If you have an early flight (before noon) then let purser desk see flight itinerary and you will get earlier tag numbers. We have always used luggage express when available- usually just got off when called. However--last cruise Legend we were told Luggage express people meet in lounge at 8:45, and we all left as a group assisted, skipped to a short customs line and out we went! Then they started calling numbers.
sylteach Posted March 14, 2010 #41 Share Posted March 14, 2010 Try going to the airport website and see if they have a link to the service. I did that for USDirect and the Vancouver airport.
california7 Posted March 17, 2010 #42 Share Posted March 17, 2010 It sounds great. The concern I have is, you do not see your luggage get off the ship and to the airport. Has anyone arrived at their final destination and the luggage was not there? If for some reason it isnt there, what would you do? We had luggage lost twice on planes and my husband is going to be hesitant doing this. I think it is great, i jsust need to convince him. Any help is appreciated. caesar68 Posted March 20, 2010 Author #43 Share Posted March 20, 2010 This is the email response that I got from SWA...It appears they do not offer the service... Thanks for contacting us with your inquiry. We welcome the opportunity to respond. Over the years we have heard from many Customers who have asked us to consider participating in Express shuttle-and-luggage service. While we don't have a definitive date as to when we might offer this service please know that it is our goal to eventually expand this service to Southwest Customers. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Thanks again for contacting us. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us anytime at 1-800-I-FLY-SWA (1-800-435-9792). mj Posted April 28, 2010 #44 Share Posted April 28, 2010 Want to make sure this is correct. Carnival charges a fee of $20 plus there is a fee charged by the airline as well. Will be flying U S Air. Thought I saw somewhere it was $30. This all goes on your S & S card. Is this correct?
seguincruiser Posted April 28, 2010 #45 Share Posted April 28, 2010 I saw someone mentioned they used this service on the Destiny. I'm flying an airline I never heard of before, Sun Country from Miami back to MN. Does anyone know if this airline participates in this service? Froufie Posted April 28, 2010 #46 Share Posted April 28, 2010 But what is you don't 'want to meet in the lounge at a specified time' to be escorted off the ship (as a group?). If I have a later flight and donl't want to shlep my luggage this does not necessarily mean I want to be off the ship at 9 am? Is it safe to assume you don't have to join the group? What would happen if you didn't?

I scanned all Carnival Capers, inserts including the Luggage Express Letter from Destiny last fall. In addition to that fee, you will be charged any airline fees for checked luggage. For U.S. Airways, the fee for checked bags is $25 for the 1st bag, $35 for the 2nd bag and $100 for the 3rd bag ~ per person. Those charges will all appear on your S&S account. Thanks- in fact we rebooked for this fall, it was our first ever short cruise and first lido deck. Going to do it all over again for Halloween. Nothing like seeing Monster Mash & Thriller done by dancers, crew and hundreds of passsengers.
