Celebrity Summit Cabin 7212

Recommended Posts

I have booked Cabin 7212 on Celebrity Summit for June 2011 (Yes, booked it 15 months in advance!) I am looking for specific information about this exact cabin, so if someone can help I would appreciate it.

I would like to know about the ease of access onto the balcony, most especially the configuration of the balcony doorway threshold. I would like to know if it is ramped at all on the inside and/or outside, and if the transition is smooth. Photos would be especially helpful. In the past we had trouble with an EZ-Lock bolt getting stuck in the balcony threshold on a different ship, and are hoping to avoid the same problem this time.

If you happen to have stayed in this cabin and have info and/or pictures, or if you are going to be in this cabin within the next year, please help me out! Thanks!!! :)

We stayed in 7212 on another M-Class ship, Infinity, last June. Some pictures of the cabin are at this link.

The balcony was not ramped, and there was a lip of an inch or so. My DH, who took his manual chair, was not able to wheel out onto the balcony on his own. He'd have to get out of the chair, then I would carry it over the bump, then he would get back in. Since he can take a step or two, that worked. But it was far from ideal.

In general, we were less thrilled with this extended balcony cabin than most people are. The lip at the door made it far less usable to us, and as you can see from some of the pictures, the balcony on this ship was quite dirty and in need of refurb. Perhaps the Summit will be better, not sure of its last refitting date.

This is quite disappointing! I was so happy to get what I thought was a great cabin with a nice huge balcony for us to use. If DH can't get on the balcony, what's the point? :( You would think if the cabin is listed as accessible, and includes a balcony, that the balcony would also be accessible. I don't need or want such a huge balcony all for myself, that's for sure.

I am hoping someone can tell me if Summit is the same as Infinity, and hopefully there isn't a barrier there. If there is, I'll be switching to another cabin...hopefully there will be another accessible cabin available!

Just had 7212 on 4/25/10 on Summit (Bermuda) -- when we entered there was no ramp to balcony and 2" lip out door. Asked room steward before sail for ramps and two make-shift ones (wooden) were placed and were fine with scooter. Small white table, 2 chairs (fine for eating out there), 2 lounge chairs - 3/4 shade, 1/4 sun. Plenty of room for 20 people (party time). Loved the wake sound and effect. Very private back. Does get sooty back there, but steward cleaned it off.

Room wide for turnaround near bed. No shelves in closet. Bathroom has large bench and grab bars. Great room and balcony on Summit. Great ship -- very accessible and fun! Vicki:)

Hi,

We had 7121 on the Summit in April. There was a small step down (about an inch or so) to get out onto the balcony. There was a wood ramp available. We didn't use it so I don't know if it had a lip.

The bathroom was roll in. The shower was roll in and had a fold down shower seat. The bathroom floor will get wet from the shower.

There was a pulldown rail next to the toilet. There was a space near the door to store a folded wheelchair.

The closet had a clothes rack that could be pulled down to wheelchair height.

The gangway was steep in some ports but the crew was always there to help.

In the dining room, the wait staff always offered to push my wife's wheelchair. In the buffet, I saw the staff carrying trays for people that needed assistance.

The ramp into the casino was a little steep. I don't think there was a way to avoid going thru the casino to get to the theater. This was a PIA as people like to stand in the walkway.

There are some small thresholds as you travel the corridors usually at the fire doors. The chair went over them easily but I took my wife big wheels first.

The theatre has wheelchair seating at the top but it was all stairs if you wanted to get closer.

My wife can walk short distances and has me to push so we might not have noticed things that would impact someone that could not get out of the chair.

I hope this helps.
