Pearl64 Posted March 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2010 We will be on the Regatta this August visiting Brugge, Amsterdam. Warnemunde, Visby, Riga, Tallin, Copenhagen, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm. I don't think we want to take canal tours in every port that has one, so which one do you recommend: Bruge, Amsterdam (will be there when SAIL Amsterdam is going on), Copenhagen, or St. Petersburg? There is so much to see that we need to make choices. Many of the pictures seem to be taken from the water. So past Baltic cruisers, which did you like best and why? Giantfan13 Posted March 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2010 Pearl You need to post this on the Northern Europe/Baltics board. That is where you will get the most anwers for these specific question. Cheers Len
Pearl64 Posted March 16, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted March 16, 2010 Len, I will post this on the Northern Europe site, but the heading for British Isles/Western Europe includes Brugge and Amsterdam. That was my thinking. Sorry. Pearl
Globaliser Posted March 16, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2010 You need to post this on the Northern Europe/Baltics board.Actually, I think that this forum (Western Europe) is the correct place for Amsterdam questions.

Pearl Bruges -The boat trips are a rather home-spun experience but none the worse for that. The canal boats are small & open, good fun, but ... no fun at all in bad weather. There can be long slow-moving lines esp at weekends. Plenty else to see, so make your decision at the time. Amsterdam - A much more professional set-up, large sleek modern boats with all-weather glass cabin, expert commentary, similar to London & Paris though the boats are all low single-deck to cope with the bridges. Not up-front & personal like Bruges, but just as worthwhile. The SAIL event may increase the numbers in the bars in the evening but I doubt it will affect your day unless you're the ship's captain :D John Bull
