Everything Serenade of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever stayed in this room that can tell me about the view? I'm little worried about the life boats, which I think are on decks 5 and 6?

Looks like 7550-7590 are all the same type of room so if you were in any of those rooms I assume your view would be similar.

Thanks,

Kristi

Yes, Kristi, you will be overlooking the covers of the lifeboats. This doesn't bother most people, who don't really care if they look directly down onto the water. The E2s on that deck have larger balconies than on other decks, and do not look down onto the lifeboat covers. I don't know the price difference, but if those things are important to you, and the cost isn't much different, you might want to look into one of those cabins. Either way, you will have a great cabin.

Mckinna, I think we were on the Adventure of the Seas cruise with you in Aug. 08. We are also going on the Serenade 5/15. Is that the one you booked?

No- we're going on the May 29th one. We loved our Adventure cruise! The only bad thing about that trip was how exhausted we were at the end. One of these days, I want to do a back to back out of San Juan.

Ok so i have been reading great things about the Serenade on this thread, thanks for all those experienced cruisers out there that help the newbies. Well not really a newbie, just new to RCI. I have been looking at some signatures and see that many of you have been on the Serenade & Adventure, so my question is:

Which ship would you choose between the 2?? The itinerary doesn't really matter, they are all great ports.

I'd pick Serenade - I prefer that class of ship. There are plenty of people who prefer the other class.

We prefer the Serenade over the Adventure. Our friends, who cruise with us, prefer the Adventure.

Here are some thoughts:

Ours: we like the smaller ship, even though she is not small at all. We like all the glass and the views. LOVE the glass elevators that look outside. Seaview Cafe: it is such a wonderful place to get a sandwich to share so you don't starve ;) before dinner. Last day is an at-sea day.

Theirs: they love the Promenade. We couldn't care less about all those shops. That is the main reason they like that class ship.

My vote EVERY time: Serenade!!

Thanks Michelle,

Im afraid that it is a little too small for the DH but im going to see what carnival ship it compares to in size, i've been on 8 carnival ships and once on the explorer....thanks for ur help, im leaning towards the Serenade, we'll see what itinerary the DH likes, its his turn to pick ship:(

We've been on Adventure twice, so we're looking forward to the Serenade. We've heard so many wonderful things about her, so I'm sure we won't be disappointed, though I do love the Adventure, and really love cruising out of San Juan. It's such a beautiful historic city.

With so much info out there...here is a tip I don't think I have seen. On the first day once boarded head to Chops and ask when the tasting begins. On boarding day they had taster samples of Portofino's and Chop's menus. They were very good and a nice free snack.

This is what's great about CC! I didn't know they had a tasting. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the great tip. Did not eat at Portofino on our last cruise because we were not sure if we would like any of the dishes. This will be a great way to try it out!

My boyfriend and I will be traveling on the Serenade in January and I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding the name of the matradee in the main dining room. We will probably want to make a request for table and we have heard that it is beneficial to know the name of the matradee and he will be more likely to make the arrangements that you were looking for. Thanks in advance and this thread has some great input in it so thanks to everyone for putting all of this together.

Hey guys and gals....looking for info on JS 1040 or 1538. Especially about noise from deck 11.

I have searched and searched and can't seem to find any info.

Thanks :D

JS 1040 on the Radiance is the cabin we stayed in for Alaska.

Wonderful cabin, wonderful location - no noise from deck 11 whatsoever, that we noticed, anyway, but we are not that quiet ourselves!

Hello all!

I am sailing on the SOS in June and am wondering what is the absolute earliest that I can get off the ship? Also, how far is the airport from the cruise terminal? I am trying to book my air tickets and they are pretty reasonable today..but the returning flight is at 8:55 a.m....not sure I want to chance it.

We'll also be on SOS in June. Based on past experience, don't book any air until after 11:30 am. Even though we are Diamond and get priority departure, you will have to go through Agricultural Inspection at the airport as well as regular security. RCL did away with the Valet Luggage service in San Juan which means you need to do everything at the airport. The lines get very long quickly. You may be able to make a 10:00 am flight but I wouldn't risk it. Whick week are you going? We're going 6/19/2010

Hi Thompson! We're on your sailing!! We are sailing with 4 other families with kids ages 12-21...I usually do not like to chance booking air too early.. I appreciate your advice. The last thing I want to do is get stuck in San Juan after our cruise. It sounds like you have sailed from San Juan before..what is a good hotel to stay at pre-cruise? We hav sailed many times, butnever from San Juan..any help/advice would be greatly appreciated..we will get there on the 17th very late but will have all day the 18th to explore.

This will be our 8th time out of San Juan. My 3 married sons and our 22 yr old daughter & friend will be along as well. We're flying down on the 17th and staying at the San Juan Marriott. I selected this hotel due to the nice pool area and Marriott Reward points.

On the final morning of the cruise, the ship usually clears customs around 7:00 am and debarking commences around 7:15. Once you go thru Customs and find your luggage, it will take another 40 minutes to catch your ride & get to the airport. If other ships are disembarking at the same time (usually 1 other ship), the lines to check-in at the airport get long quickly.

Don't put any undue stress on yourself & your family...book a later flight and don't take a chance.
