onesphinx2004 Posted March 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2010 Cruising with 11 month old in Nov. Can you request a cab with a car seat from airport to cruise port and then, cruise port to airport? Don't want to have to take a heavy car seat for just those 2 trips. crusinmama06 Posted March 27, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2010 I have never seen it, no. We have had to bring our own or contact rental companies or private town car companies that brought car seats. You aren't going to need it in any ports? Plan on simply strolling, etc.
cb at sea Posted March 27, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2010 You could take a shuttle bus...no carseats required.
crusinmama06 Posted March 27, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2010 You could take a shuttle bus...no carseats required. That's a great point! Why not just book the transfers through the cruise line? Then you won't need to worry about the car seat.
shortm Posted March 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 30, 2010 We have decided to do a one way car rentl to get from the airport to port and vice versa, that way we don't have to bring her carseat all the way from the UK and can get one from the rental company. SeeJ79 Posted April 14, 2010 #10 Share Posted April 14, 2010 We have decided to do a one way car rentl to get from the airport to port and vice versa, that way we don't have to bring her carseat all the way from the UK and can get one from the rental company. Please be careful when renting a carseat from a car rental company. I will admit that I have no personal experience with this since we always bring our own carseat, but one of my close friends rented a car and had to sort through a pile of dirty & damaged carseats to find one with all the pieces intact. She also said that many of the carseats looked to be very old, but the stickers had been peeled off or faded and she couldn't read the manufacture dates on them. Carseats "expire" after 5 years and are supposed to be destroyed (or thrown away). After hearing about her experience and reading some of the horror stories online, I decided to always travel with our own carseat so there would be no question about its history!
