Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted April 18, 2010 Author #27 Share Posted April 18, 2010 Well - to deal with my later question (regarding the casino). We booked a quickie on the Sky in June to "become known"! Tom
amistad Posted April 19, 2010 #28 Share Posted April 19, 2010 Good idea Tom, we got our last cruise comped after we sailed with NCL last year, but we both play slots, the good thing is even if you earn a comped inside or oceanview, you can pay the difference to upgrade to a balcony or suite so it still saves you money that you can gamble with in the casino (you can tell what we do for entertainment). Enjoy yourselves.

Enjoy yourselves. Thanks. After I booked the quickie on the Sky a couple of weeks ago, I also made a change to our Epic booking (with the hope that I would not end up paying it all :D)! I changed our BF category (standard balcony) to a Penthouse (aft), and then (really going out on a limb) I booked a SECOND cabin. The second one is a Courtyard Villa. I don't see myself shelling out that kind of cash if I have to pay it all, but if I manage a very good casino comp (or high % off), then it may be "workable"! Even if that does not pan out, I am pretty sure we will still enjoy the aft suite! Tom
boaterette Posted April 19, 2010 #30 Share Posted April 19, 2010 We have taken the plunge. After a friend of ours booked the Epic, it caused me to have a closer look at a ship which I initially just raised my eyebrows at (initial surprise of the exterior). After seeing the layout of the ship, and the design of the cabins, we booked the same sailing as he did: 2/26/11 My main reason for posting this was to try to get a true feel for the dress code, or lack thereof, on NCL. We are used to dressing sharp all evenings, and I wear a tux on formal night. I take it, from the little I have read and heard thus far, that I can leave the tux at home. I just want to make sure that we fit in properly with the vast majority of people with regard to dressing for dinner. Any other general hints/tips for someone who is not familiar with the "NCL way"? :) THANKS!! Tom Just want you to know that the casino is the only indoor smoking area of the ship I know you spend a lot of time there. It is very smoky. Especially in bad weather. BikerAl Posted April 19, 2010 #31 Share Posted April 19, 2010 Just wanted to say, you booked the best suite level on the Sky, IMHO. You can see some pictures of one, in my siggy. Al

It is very smoky. Especially in bad weather. YUCK -- then I will certainly relish my time on our next two SMOKE FREE casinos at sea. One day, everyone (casino/workplaces) will come around.... ok, one DECADE... It is a very straightforward HEALTH issue - it is not a matter of protecting people's rights (to poison themselves and take others with them )! Susie51 Posted April 19, 2010 #34 Share Posted April 19, 2010 Have a wonderful cruise. IMO NCL is a much nicer cruise vacation then Carnival. I hope you enjoy yourself. It's too bad about the smoking in the casino.
