M-class dining room windows

On the M-class ships, was wondering how the view is from the large window wall at the back of the MDR and the porthole windows at the sides. We'll be early seating with the sun going down at about 8:30, so there will be plenty of light. Would it be worthwhile to ask for one of these tables? Anyone have photos of the views? We're bringing friends who have never cruised before and would like to give them the best seat in the house.

Thanks!!!

The views are very nice. On our recent Summit cruise, the Captain's table was in the center of the area by the large windows (all the way aft) and there are other tables in that are that share the view.

The porthole window view on either side is nice too - on our cruise, the shades were closed on the two formal nights and open on the others.

The views are usually very nice depending on itinerary. If the sun is setting and very bright, they will close the shades. However, that being said, it is worth asking for on of those tables. They do, however, go first to status cruisers and Suites. They are all preassigned. Feel free to talk to the Matre de when you board.

Views at Early/Main seating are nice. Typically they do lower the shades at the back of the ship, especially if the sun is shining directly in. Also, for the most part, you are sailing you you are viewing water.

We sat close to Captain's table on our last cruise, and was glad the shades came down as it was distracting with the sun in your face.

We were recently on Millenium and had a table for two in the MDR near one of the portholes. Unfortunately, because we had late dinner and due to the time of year, the "view" was just the reflection of the MDR's lights.

However, we had dinner in the Olympic one night - earlier in the evening - at table by a window. The sunset was beautiful!
