rjschaack16 Posted March 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2010 Has anyone had experience renting a car at Miami airport and returning downtown or Port of Miami? If so what agency and can you book online?
asylum575 Posted March 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2010 Not really worth it for a $24 cab ride. There are no rental agencies IN the port and you would have to be shuttled. Even a large group would be better of taking taxis or taxi minivans and splitting the $24 fare.
Langley Cruisers Posted March 30, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2010 Are you doing this exclusively for transportation? I mean, are you spending any time in Miami, renting and returning the car on different days? As stated above, the cab is only $24.00 plus tip, certainly less than renting a car once you add the taxes, fees, insurance, and gasoline. The hassle alone of returning the car could prove frustrating for you and your party. Let us know if you are spending time in the city between renting and teurning the car. kirbmeister Posted March 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2010 Hertz has a downtown location. Hertz Local Edition - Miami Downtown 354 Southeast 1st Street Miami, FL 33131 (786) 425-2515 I was going to book through Alamo. They have had a shuttle to the port, but it is being discontinued 5/10. JohninDC Posted March 31, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2010 Avis, Hertz and Enterprise have downtown locations near (not at) POM. Parking at Miami area hotels, unless you are out near the airport, will cost $25+ per day. You don't need a car unless you are going to explore south FLA and Key West before your cruise. Good luck!:)
