Cruising Mum Posted April 2, 2010 #26 Share Posted April 2, 2010 I would stay on till the last possible minute. Once I'm off the ship my vacation & Suite life is over. The only one to serve me will be me. My husband will still have his butler and chef (me).
slyfox0113 Posted April 2, 2010 #27 Share Posted April 2, 2010 I can not believe it.... after all my cruises I cannot believe I have never done this. My wife will feel like she is in a fairy tale. Unbelievalble. My wife always sends me back to the room from the pool for something she forgot........now I can just call someone and have that taken care of. Awesome:D She won't want to leave the room. Soaking in the tub with the bath salts, watching TV, reading a book, asking them for a DVD to watch, maybe bring us some cheese and fruit while we watch the sunset. Just pick up the phone and ask for what you want, you will have it. She will never cruise without a suite again.
slyfox0113 Posted April 2, 2010 #28 Share Posted April 2, 2010 I believe you're in an AB. Just to clarify. AB's don't include alcohol. Only GV, DOS an OS include alcohol and sodas. You are correct liquor is not included in the AB but he can order it up to one week prior to sailing. We were originally in an AE penthouse and got and upsell to the DOS. i had inquired about liquor and were received an e mail with prices, approximately $83 a bottle which I thought was a lot more reasonable than what they charge for drinks. I had read some other threads and some had posted you could get soda in an AE for no additional charge. Don't know if that is true.
KevinsCruising Posted April 2, 2010 Author #29 Share Posted April 2, 2010 Not to worried about the liquor. I am more a beer guy. I am sure I will love the suite life no matter what I get or don't. It will all be new and be awesome. I think Cagneys has a buffet for breakfast. Just curious how much better it is then the normal buffet.
Duff Man Posted April 2, 2010 #30 Share Posted April 2, 2010 That might be a little bit of a stretch :o to have something retrieved from the room. I am willing to bet that most butlers would be happy to do this (if you don't get carried away!). I've said before, make use of the portable phone provided with your suite. One of the first things I do when we get on ship is to input the butler and concierge's extension numbers into the portable phone. I don't have to worry about remembering the numbers and I always have them. I am surprised at how many times we call the butler or concierge from that little phone.

There is a buffet set up for fruit, meats, cheeses, cereals, smoked fish, muffins, etc. to munch on while you wait for your main course to be served. Main courses include traditional eggs benedict, crab cakes eggs benedict, steak and eggs, smoked salmon frittata, and other decadent deliciousness! cynbar Posted April 2, 2010 #34 Share Posted April 2, 2010 To the OP, congratulations, your wife is a very lucky woman!!! I agree with the other posters, once you have a suite, it's really hard to go back. One of the best perks is having your butler bring a full Cagney's breakfast to your cabin, especially on a port day---- it just makes you feel like a million bucks. You asked what time to arrive. We like to get there no later than about 11:00 or 11:30. The suite guests are greeted by the concierge and have a special waiting area, then are escorted onto the ship before any of the regular passengers are allowed to embark--- once again, it makes you feel really special. Then, you'll be relaxing with a great lunch at Cagney's while the crowds are jostling each other at the buffet (we all know how the buffet is on embarkation day!) It's a wonderful way to kick off your cruise. Finally, open the bottle of champagne or sparkling wine you'll have in your suite and toast sailaway, and a great suite vacation will be underway! Please excuse all the exclamation points, it really is that good.........
guyver Posted April 2, 2010 #35 Share Posted April 2, 2010 I love Eggs Benedict...never had crab cakes benedict but definately going to try that one !! :D You will not be disappointed with the crab cakes eggs benedict. I ate them most every morning. But make sure you try the steak and eggs. I tried them the last morning and sure wish I had found it earllier. The steak was melt in your mouth good! Not at all what one typically gets at a restaurant for breakfast. Enjoy

DMH15 Posted April 3, 2010 #47 Share Posted April 3, 2010 Kevin- You will love the NCL suite life. I never knew about the suite perks until I found CC. I just thought the suites were bigger. I travel with my mom and I used to be HER butler and concierge... Now I get waited on too! Besides, we now book a suite with separate sleeping areas, it is much better for us. Make sure all of the specialty menus are in your room and you can get the MDR ones too. That will help you plan. Also, if there is a chocolate buffet on your cruise tell your concierge you would love to go in early and take pictures. The suitelife on NCL really elevated your cruise to the next level. Be ready to be spolied!

sunshine nana Posted April 3, 2010 #50 Share Posted April 3, 2010 I showed DH the pictures of the steak breakfast at Cagneys. He ordered it 3 times in Nov. 08 on the Gem and it never looked like that! We had a great cruise , but be prepared , the steak might not be that good. It kept us from eating a Cagneys dinner.
