Any smugglers on the Jewel lately?

Recommended Posts

We were on the jewel March 15-26 and when we were get checking in they were pulling liquor from suitcases of arriving guest

POURING IT OUT. Peoples were at the Purser desk later having a fit. We took water and drinks(pepsi products) from the drug store in Miami. No problem and asked the cabin steward to clean out the ref. but it wasn't very cold.

They are taking it and not giving back.

Mad folks

Taking it from their carry ons or the luggage checked in? Where were they dumping it at the pier or while at sea at he shame room?

So where was this opening and pouring out taking place?

Who was doing the checking and where was it happening. If at check in - you mean the porters were opening luggage and removing alcohol? If at security at check in, anyone who tries to bring wine or liquor in a carry on deserves to have it taken away.

There are basically only two check-ins, either with luggage drop or at security.

Any other place would have to be in the security room on deck one to observe this. Further - it is clearly not check in. So you could not observe this practice . Then you just happened to be at the purser's desk to observe angry passangers? Sorry – I really don’t buy your story.

This is in a March review on the Jewel.

Wow a Gallon Of alchol, Sounds like he needs AA.

On previous cruises we had "smuggled" liquor on board in our suitcases without any problem (yes, it is stated that this is prohibited). This time our liquor was confiscated (1/2 gallon each of scotch and vodka) with a note letting us know that it would not be returned. About a dozen passengers had to go to security to pick up the bags for the same reason. Even a pint of brandy was confiscated. Enforcing this policy is (regrettably) understandable, but other policies were not enforced (jeans, shorts and tees in the Dining Room during dinner, for example). The lack of consistency was frustrating.
