If they say jellyfish do not risk it.................
kirbmeister Posted April 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 3, 2010 Had a great time snorkeling there. Not as many fish as other places, but enough to make it enjoyable. I plan on snorkeling there again when we go this June.
LSpencer Posted April 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2010 Not sure how to phrase this but let me try... If you do not pay for snorkel excursion(bringing own equip) will we be able to see as nice of things on our own? Does the excursion take you out to deeper waters via boat? If not will we be able to see ship and play find the buried treasures game for free stuff?

I don't think the excursion takes you anywhere. I believe the cost of the excursion is basically the equipment rental.

Anyway, when you get off the tender, go all the way to the left. That is the "snorkel" beach. If you start there, then head back out towards the cruise ship, that's how you'll find the best snorkeling. It will make more sense when you're actually there. Have fun! kirbmeister Posted April 3, 2010 #11 Share Posted April 3, 2010 Is it possible to just rent the fins? or do you even need them here? Karen I've been told it is, but I had mine with me. It was cold so I rented a wetsuit for $10. You will want fins, the snorkeling goes out a ways.
kirbmeister Posted April 3, 2010 #12 Share Posted April 3, 2010 I have tried to find a reference to the cost of just renting fins and the closest I have found is fins and vest for $15. This was in 2006 so my guess would be about $10 for just fins. I did find a thread with a ton of information on Coco Cay: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=885237
mojomanny Posted April 3, 2010 #13 Share Posted April 3, 2010 Snorkeling at CocoBay was better than St. Thomas. Vests are $6 each and mandatory We loved it
ehfl Posted April 5, 2010 #14 Share Posted April 5, 2010 Everything is relative. CocoCay has OK snorkeling, but it's not the over the top amazing snorkeling you will find elsewhere in the Bahamas or Caribbean.
