JJPacer Posted April 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2010 We wanted to take the bus from the pier to Folkestone Marine Park, then to Paynes Beach, and back to the Pier. After snorkeling at the Marine Park, and Paynes. drop off our snorkel gear at the ship, have a bite to eat, and then take the bus to Rockley Beach for the remainder of the day. We wanted to return to the pier from Rockley by bus. I e-mailed the bus company. They were very prompt. Here is what they told us to do. It sounds very doable. The busses only take Barbados money. At the bus terminals, there is a cashier who can exchange US$ into Barbados money. Or, you can exchange it on the ship. You will need to have exact change for the bus. They cannot give you change back. Thank you for choosing our service the cruise terminal is approximately 5 minutes walk to the nearest bus terminal (Princess Alice Terminal). Here you can utilize any service that travels along Highway 1 ( Connell Town , Pie Corner, Josey Hill). These buses will take to Paynes Bay which you will reach first and also the Folkstone Marine Park . (You can ask the driver to put you off at the bus stop to each destination. To return to the pier cross over the other side of the street and take a bus with the destination sign Bridgetown and this will bring you back to the terminal and you can walk back to the ship. To Rockley take a walk back to the terminal and utilize the Bridgetown Shuttle service this ticket is transferable to your next destination. Depart the bus at the Fairchild Street Terminal and board the bus that is going to Sam Lord’s Castle, Crane, Silver Sands or Fairy Valley and ask the driver to put you off at Rockley. On the return take any bus with the destination sign Bridgetown and return to Fairchild Street Terminal, use the service of the shuttle and return to the Pier. The Shuttle service also passes by the pier. Do enjoy you stay in Barbados.
