Here is a reply I got back this morning from someone at Celebrity who contacted the ship:

 

Hello ******,

I am sorry for the delay. I have been out of the office for the last week. I have however received a response from the ship during the interim. The following is what was advised.

 

With regards to the guest's request: we do have DVD players on board they can use and it would be much better to confirm the request before his arrival.

Our televisions are able to have MP3 and game connections provided guests bring all cables/jacks required for the connection.

 

They did not specify they types of inputs/connections the TV'S have, I would assume the normal cables would work as they are North American Standard electronics. I will let the ship know that you have requested use of a DVD player for your cruise. Please let me know if you have other questions. Again, thank you for your patience in this matter.

Well - WSTOVER has gone AWOL since his cruise. No help there - and with over 1 month having passed since I first posed this question, no concrete answer.

 

I am holding out some hope for a CCer who is sailing in "our" cabin this Sunday to give some onboard feedback, but - if nothing else - I will know firsthand next weekend!

As a father who has connected gaming systems to hotel televisions for his gaming son here are some suggested items to bring:

 

* HTML game system connection cable

* Component game system connection cable

* RCA game system connection cable

* Game console power cable

* Extension cord and/or power strip

* Rechargeable batteries or or charger cable for game controllers

* Game console and controllers, well protected for travel

* Game Discs in a DVD/CD carrying case

Thanks - yes, I was aware of the HOTEL MODE setting on the Toshiba sets on the Solstice. That mode blocks the other inputs from being accessible. I had already purchased a Toshiba remote, and have the necessary info detailing how to access the set-up (factory menu) to turn OFF hotel mode on their TV's (:D) for purposes of hooking up a video game. The unknown now, since we have switched to a suite --- is the 52" set in there also a Toshiba, and if it's not, does this "entertainment system" have at least one separate component (DVD player) which should be hooked up via traditional methods, thus perhaps an easy unplug/replug would solve the question.

 

To those who would ask "why in the world, on a ship with so much to do, would those boys want to spend hours playing video games". My answer is... that is what they really enjoy. They are not going to be dancing in a teen disco, or meeting short term friends and hanging out... etc...

 

I have put in a request through the Captain's Club regarding the specifics of the system, and hopefully will hear back from them soon (though the last time it took them 3 weeks to reply)!

My son already has 2-3 different cables to accommodate whatever type of input we should find there... HDMI, Component, etc.
