Tipping on Excursions

We have set up a private tour when we are in port in Roatan - is it custom to tip the tour guide? If, so - what amount would be acceptable to tip for each person on the tour?

Thanks

If it's strictly transportation,. then it's up to you. If the guide actually "guides" you, and gives you a great experience, then a tip is in order...but it's entirely up to you...it's not a requirement by any means.

It doesn't hurt to ask the guide beforehand (when communicating to setup the tour) what they consider an appropriate tip. It gives you a ballpark upfront and if they exceed your expectations, or deliver service below what you expected, you can adjust the tip up or down accordingly.
