Gatguy Posted April 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2010 We have set up a private tour when we are in port in Roatan - is it custom to tip the tour guide? If, so - what amount would be acceptable to tip for each person on the tour? Thanks
Rare geoherb Posted April 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2010 I'd suggest $5-$10 per person as a tip for a full-day tour--or more if you're feeling generous and the guide was exceptional.
cb at sea Posted April 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2010 If it's strictly transportation,. then it's up to you. If the guide actually "guides" you, and gives you a great experience, then a tip is in order...but it's entirely up to you...it's not a requirement by any means. tiyana4 Posted April 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2010 It doesn't hurt to ask the guide beforehand (when communicating to setup the tour) what they consider an appropriate tip. It gives you a ballpark upfront and if they exceed your expectations, or deliver service below what you expected, you can adjust the tip up or down accordingly.
