JoeMini Posted May 14, 2010 #52 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Hi Scubagirrl, You have been fantastic with your help. I am sold on British Colonial Hilton for our 1 day stay in Nassau. Understand that in June the prices will be 50-55 dollars. Can you just walk up to the Hilton on that day and get a day pass? If I want to save the $5 bucks, where do you book online at? Thank you for all your help! JoeMini

scubagirrl Posted May 14, 2010 #54 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Can you rent jet skis at any of the places with the day pass or is it better to go to cabbage beach beside Atlantis? Sheraton has jet ski's as well as Cabbage Beach. Hilton does NOT allow them.
ava_girl_123 Posted May 14, 2010 #55 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Paradise Island Resort- Has anyone ever went here? If so, is it close to the dock where the ships are? How was the food and everything included? Thanks
scubagirrl Posted May 14, 2010 #56 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Paradise Island Resort- Has anyone ever went here? If so, is it close to the dock where the ships are? How was the food and everything included? Thanks Please read the reviews on Trip Advisor about this property. It's a dump. Paradise Island Harbour Resort. Beach is tiny, dirty and is surrounded by chain link fence that catches all the debris from the harbour. Lovely sitting on the beach looking a foam cups, paper plates and garbage imbedded in the fence. Pool needs fixing, and the chairs are so dirty you stick to them. If your just looking to get drunk in the sun, then this place is for you. If not, look elsewhere.

With June being the rainy season, it might be worth it to wait.. unless island marking will REFUND your $$$ if weather is bad.
JoeMini Posted May 15, 2010 #59 Share Posted May 15, 2010 Exactly what I was thinking...been saving for this trip for about 2 years, so an extra $5 bucks isn't the end of the world for me. Thanks for all your help Scubagirrl! ;)
KCTravel Posted May 21, 2010 #60 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Hi--just home from the Miracle and we had a great day at BCH. We reserved tickets through Island Marketing to lock in the $40.00 price and we knew there would be five ships in port. BCH honored our voucher showing our deposit and we just had to pay the balance due. No worries about crowding. The port was packed but BCH was not. There were families with younger children and lots of couples and plenty of lounge chairs and palapas on the beach and lounge chairs around the pool. The BCH is right past the Straw Market and a quick walk. We entered the quiet and cool lobby and went over to reception. We presented our reservation slips and paid the balance on our day pass. We went out the back door and the garden was lovely with tropical flowers. We went to the towel booth and got our towels and chose to sit under a palapa on the beach for the shade. The pool was nice and very warm and there was a life guard. There were small kayaks, floats, tubes and sand toys available. A waiter did walk the beach but we went to the bar for our sodas. (Paper cup = $3.00) Several folks had their lunches delivered to them on the beach. At lunch time, we went up to the bar area and sat at a table. We all enjoyed our lunches which were delicious and I think $11-$15 each. The food is transported from the hotel kitchen and took about 25 minutes. We were right on the harbor and watched the cruise ships come in and many of the fishing boats and excursion boats. The ocean was fine at this beach. It was open from 9:00 to 5:00 and was lovely. That being said, the use of the food pass was unorganized. (Note—gratuity is included in each item charged.) We wanted to see how much we had left on our pass and had to wait over an hour for our server to come back (not sure where he was.)

npatters78 Posted May 21, 2010 #62 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Thanks for the info! It helps knowing that information too and knowing I know my son would enjoy the sand toys and floats! Our cruise isn't until January. Do you know if the BCH has heated pools or will we need them?
beachbuddy Posted May 23, 2010 Author #63 Share Posted May 23, 2010 We just got back today and we decided to spend the day at the Sheridan. It was $25/person but IMHO, it was worth it. They have a lovely beach (on Cable Beach) and you can use the facilities at the Sheridan or next door at the Wyndam (spelling??) The Wyndam had a hugh pool and wet bar in the pool and there were at least 3 pools at the Sheridan that we saw. It's a very big and pretty property. They have a restaurant and a bar on the beach as well. There were also floating mats, water bikes and canoes available. Jet skiing for a cost and there was also a snorkeling boat going out every so often also for a cost. We took Scubagirl's advise and used the Jitney for the cost of only $1.25/person to get there. The jitneys run about every 15 minutes so no worries about catching one back to the port. All in all, we had a great day at the Sheridan and wouldn't hesitate to do it again if we're ever back in Nassau.

nodogkisses Posted May 24, 2010 #65 Share Posted May 24, 2010 We were at the BCH last week and had a great day. The weather was supposed to be stormy and just before we left, I emailed Island Mktg. to see if we could cancel if thunderstorms were the weather of the day, and have not received an answer to date. The reason I emailed, the fine print states that the balance will be charged to your card if you choose not to go to the BCH. The only way it's refunded is if the cruise ship is unable to make it to the port. I didn't mind losing my 25% deposit--$60, but I didn't want to be charged an additional $180. It really didn't matter since the weather was beautiful last Tuesday. It's a chance you take booking the BCH ahead of time. If I do it again, I'll definitely just walk on in and pay the additional $5 per person. There were four ships in port that day and the BCH was not the least bit crowded. The bartender made the best drinks--pina colada daquiris--$8. Great. We just always walked to the bar for our orders, rather than using the waiters on the beach. Service is slow, but the drinks were great and the chicken tenders/strips and fries were terrific. A tropical garden salad was good, too. Portions are large and I did want to try the grouper fingers, but we couldn't really eat all that food. Someone got an ice cream bar in our group. Some had beer and we still had leftover money and took two one liter bottles of water back with us to the ship. They were icy cold, too. We had great service, although slow, but we were there to relax and in no hurry at all. The bartender was very friendly. No lifeguard on duty when we were there. A gorgeous hotel and a very nice day. Would definitely do this again.

Evilgrin72 Posted May 27, 2010 #69 Share Posted May 27, 2010 Does anyone know when these various day passes "expire"? I'm likely to be there from about 7 AM to midnight and am wondering how much mileage one can get out of a day pass. Thanks.

I'm likely to be there from about 7 AM to midnight and am wondering how much mileage one can get out of a day pass. Thanks. Most passes are good from 9am - 5pm. After the pools close (around 5/6) there is no longer a use for a day pass. You can use the bars and restaurants or even the casino without a pass. Once the beach/pool is closed, you can no longer use them. Breezes and RIU passes are 10am - 5pm. Breezes has an evening pass that you can purchase for an additional $60. hungry hippo Posted May 28, 2010 #73 Share Posted May 28, 2010 Scubagirrl, do you know how much a taxi ride from the port to Sandals would be? Or is the Jitney an option to get there?
scubagirrl Posted May 28, 2010 #74 Share Posted May 28, 2010 Scubagirrl, do you know how much a taxi ride from the port to Sandals would be? Or is the Jitney an option to get there? The $10 jitney is the easiest and cheapest option ($1.25). If you need a cab, it will run you about $18 for 2 ppl. $3 pp for each add'l person. (plus a tip, of course).
