Stayed at the Marriott Singapore. Couldn't ask for a more ideal location if staying in the Orchard Road area. This was at the end of the cruise and we took the underground from the dock to the hotel and the hotel was literally up the stairs from the underground. The underground system couldn't be easier, once you figure out how to purchase the tickets.

The RENDEZVOUS on Bras Bahah Rd or GRAND PACIFIC on Victoria Street are both very good mid range hotel choices, and well located.

Both are close to Raffles Hotel, within walking distance of Orchard Rd shopping, Dhoby Ghaut Metro station and Bugis Street . 30 mins walk to China Town (@ Pagoda St) or take a taxi (cheap) or MTR to China Town.

Both hotels include excellent buffet breakfasts . RENDEZVOUS has Australia Network TV whereas Grand Pacific does not .

Close by are excellent local Singaporean eateries :

(i) the famous LONG BAR a Raffles Hotel upstairs at the back on the 1st floor. (just 2 blocks along Bras Bahah Rd).

(ii) an excellent open air food court right next door to the GRAND PACIFIC on Victoria St.

(iii) an indoor air conditioned Asian Food Extravaganza of umpteen different Asian cuisines at KOEPITAN on the Cnr of Belcoonen St & Bras Bahah Rd , right opposite the RENDEZVOUS .

Although very expensive, a hotel which is worth staying in at least once before you die is Raffles. We stayed there for one night of a three day stay in Singapore and it is worth every cent for the romance and ambiance of an era long past. Plus when you order your Singapore sling from the long bar it is fun seeing all the "tourists" who have to pretend that they are guests

Hey, I guess that is why so many people go on cruises.

Another unusual but good choice is Goodwood Park hotel which is also a blast from the past (1800s).
