Is there a required formal dress night on the Star? We want to book a cruise but hubby only enjoy's casual clothes. By that I mean nice slack's and shirt without the jacket and tie. Well, sometimes a sport's jacket minus the tie. Any info would be appreciated.

Thank's in advance.

You will be comfortable any time on the Star wearing "resort casual" .

That means he doesn't need a jacket or tie for any meals or events.

Enjoy your trip !!!!

there are no FORMAL nights...they are called DRESS UP OR NOT and its YOUR CHOICE:) hubby hasnt ever worn a jacket on NCL and always fits right in~~usually on the DRESS UP night he will wear a tie so we can TRY to get a NICE pix;)

ENJOY the STAR was our FAV:)

OP.. as others have said.. your hubby will be fine.. In fact, he will probably be in heaven. That is one reason we love NCL so much more is because we can wear our dockers and polos for dinner and fit right in with everyone else. You will see folks in all form of dress pretty much.

But there IS a dress up night, correct?

We are taking DD14 and her friend on this next trip...and her friend has never cruised before. Would like to be able to have a formal night with pictures etc.

There is a "dress up or not" night. That is the night where those who want to do as you say above will dress up and the ship's photography staff will be geared up for taking formal photos. But there is no requirement to dress formally on that night, as there is on some other cruise lines. So most passengers will still be wearing resort casual attire, while some percentage--the number depending on the cruise itinerary (typically more will dress formally on a Mediterranean cruise than an Alaska cruise)--will be more formally dressed. The point is that you have the choice of being more formal or sticking with resort casual.
