vacationfool Posted May 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Any chance of Bears in Fairbanks or Denaili in late May or early June? Suggestions where to go? What other animals might we be able to see during this time? Thank you for any suggestions!
Budget Queen Posted May 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Denali Park will have bears. :) I would, however, make the effort to be there June 1 or later, and ON the Shuttle bus to Eielson. You will likely also see moose, dall sheep, caribou. It is the jackpot of Alaska wildlife and one of the best bargains in Alaska. :)
Tricia724 Posted May 1, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Also, take a good pair of binoculars with you. Many of the animal sightings are at a distance. Our last trip into Denali a few years ago was on June 7, and we saw more bears than I expected, including a couple of singles and two sows with two cubs each. One mother/cubs group was in the flatland and could be seen with the naked eye, but the other group was at an elevation and looked like fleas without binoculars. Good glasses make a world of difference.
