Mopeds in Barbados

We are thinking about getting mopeds in Barbados so we can go to the following beaches:

 

1. Accra Beach

2. Miami Beach

3. Sandy Beach

 

Three questions:

 

Do you think it is a good idea to get a moped in Barbados?

 

If we do get the moped do you think we have enough time to go to all the beaches above?

 

If it is a bad idea to get a moped and we have to just taxi to a beach, which one of the above beaches is best?

 

We are in Barbados from 8-5 on May 13th.

which one of the above beaches is best? ===> Tough question!

If you're a current,accomplished motorcyclist and can handle traffic, you'll probably be OK.

If you're inexperienced -or a beginner

and think you're going to live out the Bermuda thing you saw in an advert somewhere

-think again ;) because Barbados has over 100,000 registered vehicles on its roads

with a fair chunk of them along the stretch of South Coast-line where your three beaches lie.

 

 

Accra and Sandy Beach are only about 1 mile apart.

Those are easy.

 

For Miami Beach, you'll have to go a few more miles East

towards and thru OISTINS fishing town,

and then slightly beyond that, you're looking for signs to ENTERPRISE and Enterprise Bay/Beach.

Take the right side of the Y junction, just beyond Oistins.

 

You're aiming for a picnic area under a small grove of Casuarina 'Whistling Pines' right on the beach.

Snack shacks are nearby, but I'm not sure about other amenities.
