saleaaway Posted May 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2010 I know we are a ways off but was wondering if anyone has done the Carribean in June. We are out of NJ next year right after school lets out. The 23rd I believe on the Explorer. I hope we are early enough to miss huricane weather. Would love to hear from you all thanks E

We are cruising on the June 24 Explorer 9 night to Bermuda and the Caribbean. Come on and join us on our roll call thread. Here's a link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1047735 The weather should be great, since things are still fairly quiet that time of year. There are never any guarantees, but it will be a fun cruise no matter what! Be sure to sign up for the Meet & Mingle too. We have links from our roll call. stoneharborlady Posted May 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2010 I have done 2 cruises early July- it was hot and beautiful. The water was warm, the seas calm.
Sugar*Magnolia Posted May 5, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2010 You'll be perfectly fine. I have cruised in June often and out of NJ often. The first day or so out of NJ is usually somewhat rocky. But I wouldnt think twice. Hurricane season?

Newbcruiser1 Posted May 5, 2010 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2010 We did the 9 night Explorer from NJ in mid-june last year. We had a lot of rain (it rained every day except for one - usually we had half a day of nice weather and half rain), but no hurricanes. The only thing I'd advise was that the weather felt cooler than I expected on the first and last day or 2, and it was very windy out on deck. We couldn't even comfortably go on deck at night, and the pool parties were extremely windy as well (it felt worse than on our winter cruise). Maybe just bring an extra sweater, and the ladies should probably avoid wearing loose skirts or dresses outside at night... we learned our lesson on that cruise! ;) Anyway despite the wind and rain, we still had a wonderful cruise and got to enjoy the beaches in the caribbean for a little while. Maybe take an umbrella along just incase.

Pomperaugrr Posted May 6, 2010 #11 Share Posted May 6, 2010 I've been on cruises various times throughout the year where we had rain most days and some with only sunny days. Rain can be a disappointment, but it has never spoiled a cruise for us. As for the concerns about hurricanes, RCI and most cruise lines go to great lengths to avoid storms and heavy sea conditions for safety and comfort of everyone on board. OOps, I missed the part about you being on the Explorer in June of next year. HEy, you are still welcome to book for this year and join us. ;) Eric
