We were just there on June 25th and took a taxi to horseshoe bay. We waited in the taxi line and were piled into a small bus. We payed 8 dollars a person to get to the beach and ran a meter in the taxi on the way back to the dockyard and paid 30 dollars. My guess is that 30 dollars is about right. This was on a Friday.

Could you tell me if the van/taxi dropped you off at the bottom of the hill that everyone talks about? Were there taxis waiting for your return trip? Where do you get them?

Yes, the taxis will drop you off at the bottom of the hill and usually there are any number of taxis waiting when you want to leave. They will be in the same drop off point.
