You'll get a better response on the FLA departure board - it's a sub heading under the east coast board.;)

If you are flying out of MIA (Miami), the beach is in the city of Miami Beach. Not sure about day passes at any of the hotels on the beach, but the public beaches are wonderful - you just need to do something with your luggage. If your cruise line offers a "luggage express" (Carnival's term) program where they transport your bags to the airport and check them in, spend the $20 or so per person and you're free of many bag imposed limits - then cab to Miami Beach and later cab to MIA. Otherwise look at renting a car for the day and stashing your bags in the trunk; both Hertz and Avis have downtown Miami locations that are close (a $10 cab ride away) to POM.

Another alternative is lunch someplace and then hit the pool - you might have better luck finding day rates at airport area hotels who are used to customers with strange departure times. Good luck!:)

None that I'm aware of. You may want to check over on East Coast Departures/Florida board. We hired a driver and tooled around to blow time before our flight. Now with Luggage Express option, you could have Carnival take your luggage, pack suits & sunscreen & towels in your carry on and head to the beach on your own, though.

If I were you I'd look at renting a car for the day, and just parking at one of the public parking lots or spaces in Miami Beach. You can stash your luggage in the car and go to the beach. You'll have freedom of movement, and likely it's cheaper than a cab to and from the beach. You can always change clothes into something mor ecomfortable for travel in a restroom at the airport.

thank you for your suggestions..... We did take a cab from the port to the beach last year, beach across from "Mangos" ended up taking an outdoor rinse in the shower there and changes clothes at Mangos..... was just trying to come up with maybe a spot with changing facilities at the beach????? would the area around 900 Ocean Drive be considered South beach???? what public beach area would you suggest where we could rent a beach chair,at least have a place to change, then have a drink, someting to eat before heading to the airport????
