Sauer-kraut Posted May 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2010 Has anyone put together a group lunch for the roll call members? Was it easier to plan for a later seating or an earlier one? Did you contact the Catering Manager (or whoever is in charge) before you left for your cruise? We are doing a T.A. and are tentatively planning for the 3rd sea day after all ports of call have concluded. I figure that I can submit a final head count a couple of days before the actual date. Did you decorate the tables in any way? Did they make you wait until the entire group was there before they seated you? Did you use the main dining room? Any hints and other suggestions will be appreciated!
alwalaska Posted May 27, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 27, 2010 We did a group lunch on the last sea day on our 12 day Explorer of the Seas cruise. We tried to talk to the group coordinator before we left, but they said to check with people when we got on board. When we talked to them, they said they really couldn't help us unless we paid a fee for exclusive access to a dining room, the golf course, etc. We had decided before the cruise that we wanted to have the lunch on the last day and said that we would post the information on the group announcement boards that Royal Caribbean has. We also passed the info around by word of mouth once we had the exact time, day, and location. We also tried to talk to the Maitre'D for the main dining room the day before. We told him we would have between 20 and 30 people (only a small portion of our very active roll call). He said simply to be there when they opened the doors and they would be able to take care of us. When we got there and the doors opened, we told them we had 28 people for lunch. They asked how many in each group. We said, 28 people who want to sit close to each other. They looked stunned and asked us to wait a minute. They then came back and led us to 3 long tables set up next to each other. It was a great way to end the cruise. We walked around the tables, took pictures, and chatted. Lots of fun. We didn't do any decorations or anything. It was a really fun group and we have several nice activities on the sea days.
VonChap Posted May 27, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 27, 2010 I have set up group dinners before on NCL. The ship's coordinator helped organize the event weeks before the cruise. It was held in a special area in the MDR and was free if we had more than 20 people. We asked to set up a group lunch but they were unable to set up an official event for lunch. You could probably all show up for lunch at the MDR at the same time though. Have a great cruise and a good time with your Roll Call Kim
MissRabbit Posted May 27, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 27, 2010 i wonder why they were able to do a group dinner but not a group lunch? This is good information to know as we're going to have more than 20 ppl from this board on the ship.
