chamima Posted May 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2010 The search feature isn't working so I apologize but the only way I could figure out to ask this is to start a new thread. We are previous Princess cruisers and I know that when a TA offers coupon books they have a couple of good coupons in them. Do the coupon books that TAs offer periodically for Celebrity have anything usable in them? (e.g. Princess has 2 for 1 coffee cards) Thanks
Fblack Posted May 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2010 Other than the perks given to past Celebrity passengers in the form of a sheet of coupons, I know of no "coupon book" that TA's give out for Celebrity.
chamima Posted May 28, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted May 28, 2010 Got this from my TA this morning Celebrity Cruises Book May 25th through June 25, 2010 - on 7-night roundtrip Ft. Lauderdale sailings aboard Celebrity Solstice to the Eastern Caribbean(June 13th through December 26, 2010)or Western Caribbean(June 6th through November 7, 2010)in Oceanview or aboveto receive: * $50 per stateroom shipboard credit * Pair of Onboard Value Booklets per stateroom = $150 in savings That's what prompted the question. Stella62 Posted May 28, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2010 Yes, we received a couple different coupon books from our TA. Most of the offers are buy one, get one - fitness class, casino, glass of wine. There are also flower discounts, photo discounts, internet discounts, laundry, etc.
Richiebaseball Posted May 28, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2010 In my opinion they're really not that useful. I wouldn't book or not book based on the coupon booklet.
gopherhockey Posted May 28, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2010 If you are a Captain's Club member you should get some coupons day 1 for discounts on laundry, bonus Internet minutes etc. We found only the laundry and internet coupons useful, but your milage may vary. I don't believe these particular coupons are available for first time Celebrity travelers.

Ha, what a joke! It's like all those coupon books where it says something like "Over $5000 in savings"...yeah, if you went and bought everything in the entire book. The reality is that many of these coupons will go unused. Here is what is in my "Onboard Value Booklet" that I just got... Masters of Malt - 20% discount Whiskey Professor - one free entry fee for each one purchased Wine Appreciation - one entry fee for each one purchased World Wine Tour - 20% discount Rosetta Stone - free upgrade to Unlimited package with purchase of $49.95 package digITal Class - one free class for each one purchased Fitness class - buy one class and get a second class free Aqua Spa - $15 off Ageless Facial Acupuncture - $15 off single treatment or 5% off package Laundry service - one full paper bag cleaned for $29 Wheel of Madness - make $10 bet, get free $1 bonus bet Work of Art - receive free lithograph for attending art auction Photo discount - 15% off digital printing and CD burning Logo apparel - buy 1, get 50% off a second regularly priced logo apparel item Bingo - buy a bingo package and get a complimentary jackpot card Flower savings - 10% off fresh flower order As you can see, it's pretty pathetic. This is my first Celebrity cruise, so I'm not sure what some of the things are, such as Masters of Malt. We've done wine tasting on Royal Caribbean before - I think it was a $10 fee - so I imagine it's similar for the Whiskey class and the Wine tasting on Celebrity. And who actually buys Rosetta Stone? (Always thought it was strange how they had Rosetta Stone kiosks in all the airports, it's not really an impulse item, especially at several hundred dollars.) I think the only one I would use is the fitness class (probably worth $10) and perhaps getting a free jackpot bingo card ($5?). I'd suggest not letting this coupon book influence your decision. As another poster mentioned, many of these coupons are probably also provided to Captain's Club members.

Wow - this is NOTHING like the coupon book we get from Princess (although maybe that buy-one-get-one coffee card coupon makes me think it is great when really the rest is as worthless as this one ;) )
TMLAalum Posted May 28, 2010 #9 Share Posted May 28, 2010 Can my "elite" SIL give me the coupons she doesn't use, and will I be permitted to use them?
Fblack Posted May 28, 2010 #10 Share Posted May 28, 2010 The Elite coupons are not supposed to be transferable. At least not easily. When I used my Elite Internet coupons, the $49 credit took a few days to show up. The guy in the Internet center told me the Hostess had to approve the credit. We used the Elite laundry coupons that are placed in the bag and we were told they had to match up with our cabin on a list. I suppose a few coupons, like the free Espresso drink in an alternative restaurant could be transferred. Unless they check them somewhere in the restaurant. gatorima Posted May 28, 2010 #11 Share Posted May 28, 2010 My 1st cruise as a Captain's Club member is upcoming. Would I get these coupons from my online TA or directly from Celebrity once on the ship?

That your membership status in Captain's Club is printed on your SeaPass card [which serves as your ship ID, key card for your cabin, and on-board charge card]...
